Feels bad that Indian Valorant has to go through such a tough process to even make an international LAN. Next year we will definitely see Indian Valorant on lan and I am excited.

EMEA 4 gets an easier path to qual than EMEA 2 ??

Most of us probably stopped playing but the game is still insanely popular and definitely a top 5 multiplayer game of the last 5years

I think that hardcore gamers will find a way around but China has so much power over their citizens that most casual gamers(especially on mobile) will probably just follow the rules. China could lower your social credit for breaking the rules which could affect getting loans/applying for jobs, shit is crazy in China.

China is one of a handful of countries who can announce this and I actually believe that they will be able to enforce it. I agree that this will reduce China's competitive level in games where young players do very well ie: FPS but I don't know if the 3hour limit will hold for very long because it is so strict.

Quarterfinals
SMB x Sentinels
G2 x 100T
Kru x Vision Strikers
Gambit x Envy

Semifinals
Sentinels x 100T
VS x Gambit

Final
Sentinels 3-1 VS

(dk if this is possible just tried to do 1v2 seed)

Prob contributes to the low viewership. People like to cheer for players from their own countries..

my bad dude, sorry for being kinda abrasive and assuming you were wrong...
Can you link the place you found the ranked distribution by region? I could only find sources that listed global ranked distribution. Really cool to see these new numbers though cause it shows that Valorant truly penetrated the Asian market unlike CS.

posted about 2 years ago

still the same size as NA (tiny bit bigger) This guy pulled numbers from somewhere weird lol

posted about 2 years ago

How'd you get these numbers cause when I did this threadt I got pretty different numbers

posted about 2 years ago

Where did you get playerbase? The apac number seems high

posted about 2 years ago

yeah, I wish we had a little bit more of a breakdown ie: Japan, SEA, SA, and Oceania instead of APAC and CIS, TR, and EU instead of EMEA
would be useful for determining playerbase by region

posted about 2 years ago

I guess I',m used to a CS / other esport point of view where the regions are usually EU, NA, LATAM(including BR), and then Asia in order of playerbase/popularity.
It is cool to see Valorant doing so well in Asia(especially when it isn't actually out in China). I think it can be a truly global esport more than any before it.

posted about 2 years ago

True, this game's international potential is higher than even League's. I think valorant can be the biggest PC esport of all time and Riot is doing a pretty good job at managing it (Just please support SA and some of the less historically significant regions w/ slots and better servers)

posted about 2 years ago

Take CR and throw them into NA Open quals, let see how they do

With all the discussion about SA receiving 1 slot at the Asia LCQ (I agree that it should be 2)
I'm wondering how you guys feel riot should give slots. Here are some of the factors I see as important:

1) Playerbase (obviously a big player base should get more representation) also: playerbase breakdown
2) Viewership(some regions have big fanbases and I think that viewership should always be a factor in an esport)
3) Skill (some regions are really good despite worse 1 and 2 stats than other regions and we want competitions to reflect the best the world has to offer)
4) Politics (sometimes to get a region to grow or just to keep it alive, you give it slots which is important for the game to succeed also mixes w/ 1 and 2 )

Obviously slots should be a combo of these factors but riot seems to not be consistent.

Korea receiving slots reflects 3 and 4 (they have a relatively small player base)
Japan's slots reflects 2 and 4 (good viewership, low competition, room to grow)
NA and EMEA reflect 1, 2, and 3
China reflects 4

I think Riot should focus on making sure that factors 1 and 3 are the most important because right now it seems that they put politics(4) above all else. What do yall think?

posted about 2 years ago

Riot set a lot of these slots months ago, they will make adjustments next year given what they learn from this. Don't worry I'm sure SA will get direct slots to major events next year

posted about 2 years ago

Riot likes making things random and if they put an emea team in every group that would reduce randomness as far as I can tell

posted about 2 years ago

This group system seems to have been designed based on the 1 team per group advancing so I hope that they will adjust it given the response

tarik stew and auti competed in a CS tourney recently so they are definitely still playing together. I think a c9 major squad could happen but I see it going like the Dig old NIP project aka not well

posted about 2 years ago

Well way less females play these games on average so you will have less good players from which to make teams. I would assume that if you had a game w/ 50% of the playerbase being female, you would have some really good female teams. Gamechangers encourages more women to play/watch Valorant just like the inclusion of worse regions in major competitions does w/ people from those countries.

posted about 2 years ago

that wasn't a superteam tbh, they spent a lot of money but W0xic was washed/not motivated, Alex had never proved himself away from Zywoo, Es3tag had some success and was WAY overpaid, and then the two NA boys weren't top tier(based on international comp).
I think superteams work better when they aren't international which is what most people are suggesting for Valorant.

Gaules has always been delusional lol what do u expect..

posted about 2 years ago

Yeah, it seems that slots for all 3 big events were set at the start of the season and no adjustments have been made. It is a bit disappointing cause I feel the SA scene has a lot of promise and the scene would grow a lot from international exposure. Hopefully next year we will see bigger tournaments with more teams from more countries!

posted about 2 years ago

I'm assuming groups will have 1seed vs 4seed and 2seed vs 3seed. Then winners of those matches will play (winner of this goes to playoffs as high seed) Losers of first round matches will play (loser goes home) and the winner of this match will play loser of winner's game to decide who goes to playoffs as low seed. So, only the teams can decide if there is a rematch or not(it is not guaranteed)...

Sorry if this is confusing, its the best way I could think of to explain.

SA is like the emea of Asia, they have a lot of different regions they come together for the VCC finals, I think that they deserve their own direct slots to champions and since they don't have one this year, they should at least get equal representation at the LCQ

posted about 2 years ago

Yeah that is crazy but it is most likely due to politics/pandering. Riot is chinese-owned and they know that China could easily be the biggest market for Valorant(especially given LPL viewership). They probably want to give China a jumpstart to help grow the game there.

posted about 2 years ago

Does SEA deserve 3 slots? I would have prefered 2 for each region aka South Asia also gets 2..

posted about 2 years ago

Both Wippie and Dephh have been in NA FPS forever and have lived here for at least like 3 years so I wouldn't consider them imports...

posted about 2 years ago

How much time have they had w/ out Tournaments...
These are professional players, they are payed to play and it is frankly embarrassing that they didn't take one of the few opportunities they would have for months to play some official matches(couldve got a stand-in).

posted about 2 years ago

It is hard to believe that a team who were willing to skip one of the only big tourneys in NA for months due to, "not feeling prepared" would've been in the position to win anything...

posted about 2 years ago

Ur right that scrims don't matter but....

Liquid was down 13-0 in scrims vs Sen, and Gambit is a scrim team as known by everyone(much better in scrims than officials)

posted about 2 years ago

Yeah, if they win this match they will have 425 points and only acend can possibly earn more. Since there are two slots, TL is guaranteed a Champions slot w/ the win

posted about 2 years ago

Slots are divided into Circuit Point Slots(11) and Last Chance Qualifier(LCQ) slots(5).
Circuit points are earned by winning events and going to Berlin earns you a lot (175). The top 1/2 teams from each region in terms of circuit points go straight to Champions through those slots while the lower teams go to the LCQ where they will play for the last slot in that region.

*Liquipediaexplains this well

Avova has struggled in this tourney, if he hits his stride(and keloqz finds consistency), G2 will definitely have a good shot at winning this whole thing.

posted about 2 years ago

Yeah rn its about 110k across Youtube and Twitch including allstreams which is pretty damn good for domestic matchup that is deciding 5/6th

posted about 2 years ago

sucks that people can't just plan ahead and know not to start a game if they have to go in like 20min

IMO Surrendering is a waste of time and it is frustrating af

1) This is not riot run so the conflict of interest rules are much less strict
2) Kanpeki was not signed by Andbox so he is a free agent and can play for anyone

ez5 will try their best but Koalanoob 2 strong... Ghost 2-1 ez5

p.s. whoever the Admin is that removed the ez5 flair is rood

For this, they are included in Asia

posted about 2 years ago

Yes, I know that it at least includes TR+CIS+EU but might also be MENA and maybe the rest of Africa as well

posted about 2 years ago

Yeah literally 1/10th of EU and still some tier 1 players+teams. From what I've heard the low playerbase is cause of vanguard's issues w/ PC bangs
