Great, maybe Riot will finally give double bracket formats to EU tournaments so that flukers like Liquid don't go through next time

edit: it was magnum's mouse, not derke's my bad g

These regional slots were set sometime in 2020, they're bound to change around Berlin LAN.

Heck, BR definitely needs to be merged with LATAM or EMEA needs to be split into EU, CIS and Turkey.

Valve is already actively killing the scene by outsourcing TO role to dodgy subcontractors: https://twitter.com/Nors3/status/1398813274649546756
Although, Riot is also doing harm by outsourcing EMEA TO role to freaks4ugaming, but at least some changes are made after community backlash.
Still, it seems that Riot has found a better balance of making a scene competitive, than Valve did. From this point onward, either Valve changes direction or CS:GO is slowly going to become Dota2 in terms of scene relevance.

If were going down this route, then liquid is also not top 2 in europe. They fluked into the finals because there was no loser's bracket in EMEA qualifiers and EMEA tournament itself. Heck, if loser's bracket didn't exist in NA qualifiers then sentinels would not even be here today either.

sure hope that does indeed happen. definitely think fnatic has the highest odds of beating sentinels in grand finals amongst that trio.

posted about 2 years ago

they kind of do though, nuturn is playing winner of fnatic/liquid straight after liquid v fnatic match. If there is a lot of mental drain on previous match, one of those EU teams could easily be upset by nuturn

posted about 2 years ago

left derke hanging.

Anyway, somebody cancel this man

posted about 2 years ago

wait a minute, the winner of fnatic v liquid is playing this one straight after? Ooof, if liquid v fnatic is gonna be a mental drain on EU teams, then I can see Nuturn upsetting eventual EU winner and advancing into grand final rematch against sentinels

in fact thats what made Gamelanders loose the Masters spot..

Pretty much my thoughts too, Gamelanders simply had no answer to viper's bullshit

posted about 2 years ago

BR style is very easy to figure out, i dont think that is the problem..

I think it is a problem in the current meta, there are far too many agents that can shut BR style quite effortlessly. Astra, Viper, Sage come to mind in particular.

Any idea when does the equivalent of this: https://liquipedia.net/valorant/VALORANT_Champions_Tour/2021/Europe/Stage_2/Challengers_1/Open_Qualifier begin for VCT stage 3?

Some pros said June, but how soon after the Reykjavik LAN(aka VCT stage 2)? Is it beginning of June or is it closer to July?

posted about 2 years ago

There was aggression at the beginning of the maps, but that got easily shut down/countered as the games went on. I think it simply comes down to BR style being figured out, therefore making BR players to play something else which of course they are quite uncomfortable playing to begin with.

posted about 2 years ago

I think fnatic have more chances to win against sentinels than liquid. But I suppose this one is going to be close again, which might force fnatic to reveal some of their additional strats(assuming they were saving any for very late stages of the tournament). Issue is, V1 have shown that liquid can be easily shut down if you don't let scream/jamppi feel comfortable.

posted about 2 years ago

Don't want Liquid to win against fnatic, because I feel like it will be easier for Sentinels to shut down Liquid when compared against fnatic. I think fnatic have better chances of winning against sentinels in the grand finals than liquid.

Think people are just emotionally invested into this LAN as this is THE LAN after 1 year of no LANs and lockdowns. Don't think Berlin is gonna be as significant as Reykjavik emotionally, while Champions in November is definitely gonna matter a heck lot more.

Either Turkey and CIS should have independent slots from Europe, or BR and LATAM should be merged. Right now it doesn't make sense that one continent has an intermediate qualifying tournament(EMEA), while BR gets to have independent slots from the rest of South American continent. I would like this to be more consistent tbh

posted about 2 years ago

If fnatic lose this, then it's over for EU dream. Liquid just ain't it man, their play-style has so far been underwhelming throughout this tournament as teams from other regions seem to be capable of countering them quite well.

posted about 2 years ago

Yeah I think Riot could definitely make continental qualifiers before global LAN is played. So basically keep EMEA as it is; merge BR and LATAM regions; keep NA as it is(or make it Canada+USA+Mexico by pulling Mexican teams out of LATAM); create 2 seperate Asian regions - 1.) merge SEA, Oceania and India, 2.) Merge Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and eventually China.

And then the winners or high place finishers from those intermediate regional LAN events get to compete on global stage.

posted about 2 years ago

And there are also people from NA too(assuming they are not fakeflagging on this forum) who were SEN and TenZ doubters. I personally doubted TenZ too(along the lines of "cmon there is no way a single player can make that much of a difference") but I am officially declaring that I am eating my words after watching him play on this tournament.

The observers are indeed recording the POVs of every individual player for highlights after the rounds finish. It's up to Riot's discretion whether those POVs will be released to the public.

Maybe a good opportunity to spam one of the Valorant twitter accounts to ask them to release individual POV recordings from the tournament?

If EU is truly the second best region, then one of EU teams will have no problem to come back to the grand finals through lower bracket.

posted about 2 years ago

Luck or no luck it doesn't matter, a lot of EU pundits were predicting a stomping of NA by EU teams. Instead we got a pretty even match between FNC and SEN and a significant upset of TL by V1. This shows that at the top level, NA teams are currently better than EU teams for sure. EU's upper echelons were simply unable to match NA's upper echelons, therefore EU's upper echelon needs to raise the bar higher for the region as a whole. Point is, according to pundit expectations EU has been underwhelming, while NA exceeded expectations, as "EU were supposed to stomp NA".

Also, if he posted clips at various times in the game, then he must have been recording the entire game. If this guy's allegations are to be taken seriously, he needs to post the full VOD. Otherwise, it can be safe to assume that he must have also taken all of these clips out of context with the goal of defaming V1 Zellsis' reputation.

As some fnatic guy said on Twitter, EU ranked builds character. :D But for real though, it's like Riot is not looking over voice chat reports from EU server - I have an acquaintance from discord who tilts pretty easily and is quick to tell people to off themselves, use all sort of f-,r-,n- slurs in voice chat in at least 33% of his games and to this day he is still not banned or voice chat restricted since December 2020.

And it's pretty obvious that this dash guy is trying to publicly bait: https://twitter.com/dashlolz/status/1396638718862270466

who the hell responds with "I can’t argue with someone who has room temperature iq" to sensible arguments when making serious allegations towards a pro for whom this entire situation could have serious consequences(it's a given that this dash guy is exactly trying to achieve that).

this vitality team ain't it man, either the non-frenchies or the frenchies need to go. But what they have currently, does not seem to be improving at a good enough rate. At this point they are very unlikely to even make it to Masters 3 EMEA qualifiers.

Masters 1: Online is separate from Masters 2: Reykjavik, just like Masters 3: Berlin will be separate from both Masters 1 and 2. VCT Champions is going to be the biggest tournament of the year, not Masters 2: Reykjavik.

posted about 2 years ago

According to scrimbux they have been hiding strats from teams that are on their side of the bracket.. let's see if that works out for them. My bet is that boaster is gonna come up with something completely unseen from fnatic side since their EMEA play considering that they had 2 weeks of preperation and that is going to allow them best sentinels and win a rematch against liquid. Although that all depends whether they haven't snoozed on LATAM and BR teams, as fnatic can definitely be upset by those teams.

The platinum 3 cap is on visible rank, not MMR. With "smurf"/new ranks you have to look at enemy's ranks(as they have older accounts) to gauge the actual average rank of the match. Those matches were lost in low immortal for sure, by the looks of it.

posted about 2 years ago

It's not just sentinels and v1 that have shit pcs, every team in iceland is stuck on shit practice pcs.

All of these games that you posted appear to have taken place in low immortal though, or am I blind? Where do you see EU diamonds and plats? Or are you baiting?

yeah that's true, but it does seem that for teams who currently have 0 circuit points, VCT masters stage 3 is do or do not qualify for the champions later on in the year.

People on reddit are saying that he had been bought out by another team. If true, then NiP probably just flipped him for a decent financial profit after the performances he had shown earlier. Think what mousesports did with NiKo in cs:go
