No way, he was alright on Surreal, but I don't think he has what it takes to be at the very top.

That's crazy, this is the first time I'm hearing about this. I think the Gaurd really messed up here fr

If you plan on playing on Stockholm servers, just be aware that a large section of that playerbase is Russian and will only communicate in Russian. You're much better off playing London, Paris or Frankfurt, all of which should have good ping from Belgium.

Sideshow has a pretty good (quite long) video on YouTube where he goes into a lot of depth explaining what the report actually means.

Like, if anyone is genuinely interested in this topic, here's the video:

That's why they said "probably".

It does perfectly align with Riot policies in the past though (for example when Rise disbanded and FaZe needed to sign three of their players to inherit their circuit points).

And a coaching session with him is basically him looking at your clip and going "hmmm i think you should aim a bit higher and play some dms"

He's also had quite a lot of insane moments in officials, so long as they were low pressure moments. He just also has the most horrendous whiffs whenever it actually matters

He's also an absolute whiny loser as a person.

Just to be clear: I think Riot's decision regarding that situation is wrong.

That being said, the Guard did not sign the partnership agreement (in time). We don't know why. But whatever happened behind the scenes, the org decided to abandon the team, knowing full well that this could result in them not making partnership. The org tried to leverage their ascension win into de facto selling their spot (obv they can't literally sell their spot, because Riot owns the spot (one thing they've learned from league), but their goal wasn't to compete in VCT, it was to sell ascension winning players for high buyouts to an org that would take their slot). They didn't give a shit about the players and this result is something they knew would happen, and actively let happen.

Again, that doesn't mean that I believe Riot made the right decision here, but absolutely fuck the Guard for screwing over their players (and coach).

Alfajer was also a tier 2 player before he joined Fnc and he also had games where he got diffed by random tier 2 players. It was visible back then that he had potential, but he only became a world class player after joining Fnatic, and even there it took him over half a year to become consistently top level. I reckon if you put a single GC player like Flor or Mary on a Tier 1 team and gave them some time to develop (which of course is a resource that few tier 1 teams are going to invest), they would do better than most people think.

The problem is that no one wants to be the first to take that chance, and random male tier 2 players are just easier to get and have more evidence of their competence. Development needs trust and time, and neither are available. Add onto that the fact that if you sign a random tier 2 player (idk like Wolfen for example), nobody really cares, but if you sign a GC player, all eyes will be on you, and every single mistake will be highlighted and used as a reason to shit on your decision. Obviously no org wants to take that step when easier and less controversial options exist.

He clearly had a lot of potential mechanically, bro's aim is insane when he's on, like top 10 itw kind of good. He just consistently couldn't access it in high-pressure moments. Which of course is a huge problem, and he's had a lot of chances at this point, so letting him go is no doubt the correct decision for TL. But surely he's very obviously quite talented.

posted about a year ago

yeah exactly, being able to consistently train against competent people who are pretty close to the level of the main squad, while also being able to imitate any style that you want to train against is a good idea, i don't understand why so many people acted like it was the dumbest thing in the world

Derke and Boaster were on the team from the start; Alfa was picked up as a Tier 2 player, Leo was picked up with very little international experience. Chron was the only established high level player they bought.

You can't sell spots. This isn't franchising, orgs don't buy in. Riot hand picked the partnership orgs, and they can get kicked at every time if they don't fulfill their requirements. RRQ originally wanted to stick with their Filipino roster instead of getting top Indo talent, but Riot pressured them into upgrading the roster at the threat of being kicked from VCT.

Source on the entry fee? Pretty sure orgs don't pay for Val partnership, on the contrary they receive stipends from Riot.

Loud vs Fnatic on Lotus. Fnatic literally won all 13 Lotus games since LOCK//IN and only TL and KC even managed to get double digits. Then at champs Loud smoke them 13-6.

Gambit 13-4 vs Acend on Bind in the lower final of 2021 Berlin quals was pretty insane as well (although stakes were much lower of course). Acend had a 34-4 record on Bind at the end of 2021. Without that game they would have been on a 25 game win streak on Bind (and also in the next match against Gambit at RB Homeground, Acend won Bind 13-0)

I remember all the US flags clowning on EG for their 10 man roster. Now they're all wearing EG flairs. 🤔

Kudos to the OG believers though. I personally never thought they would go on a run like this, but I did always say a 10 man roster is a good idea.

That would send a signal to orgs that they don't need to invest into tier 2, they can just wait for the year to be over and then pick up whatever team wins ascension. If we want a sustainable tier 2 ecosystem we need orgs to invest long term.

It really fucking sucks for the players, but I can see the reasoning behind the decision. Still sucks though.

FNC played the same stuff they played all year, while Loud prepped hard and antistratted them. There was a lot more thinking going on in the Loud camp and FNC did a lot more autopiloting.

posted about a year ago

Idk what it is exactly but somehow Saadhak just turns into an absolute mind reader whenever they play FNC. FNC was the best team on Lotus all year, and it's not even close. LOUD's Lotus was pretty unimpressive. FNC won 13 games on Lotus, where only two teams (TL and KC) even managed to get double digits against them. The only team that beat FNC on Lotus was Loud, and they did it twice, and both times it looked like FNC didn't stand a chance. They got outcalled, Less was a demon on C site, FNC looked clueless.

I was ecstatic about Champs 21, but the only thing I can remember about Acend's run is the Vivo Keyd situation and the ScreaM ace on Split against them in the semifinal. Acend is 100% the most forgettable LAN WINNER.

Nukkye is good with Raze, but he's not a good entry player. Most Raze comps need her to entry.

Jaw in #1 is ridiculous. No offense, he's a great player, and certainly good with Raze. He played his role in his team perfectly. But individually, he is not better than Jinggg or Derke (also where the hell is Derke anyway)
