yes HK was given to the British in 1842 with the Treaty of Nanking due to a onesided Opium War and now they are part of China I know the history

but that does mean that HK's heavy British influence has made it quite different from mainland China !!

my argument itself was about the HK fans and their differences to CN fans in my perception (they tend to be less parasocial) but thats just my viewpoint !!

I have been to HK
the only significant difference is in political values, food influences, and English language usage
the people are the same, the original language is the same, and the cross cultural exchange with shenzhen has been happening for decades, since the 1980's
they are just as chinese as everyone else in the mainland
