C9 realized they have to keep the pattern of dropping/adding the same player that played for them before and vanity runi and mitch are gone so v1c had to do it himself

C9 aren't exactly known for trying to make moves that "work" but rather to make moves that please them on a personal level
Well they've only tried it with shit players before, now they are trying it with a good player to see if that changes anything.
