Is Valorant dying?

I saw so many teeets and reddit threads discussing how Viewership numbers are down 20% for this year across EMEA and Americas and its proving the consensus that Valorant is slowly dying. Here are the reasons why I think viewership numbers are low:

  1. Esports is just different from sports. We follow players not the teams. Thats why I am a SEN fan since 2021 cuz of Tenz. I watched every SEN game in Partnership because I really loved watching Tenz and zekken.

Similar thing applies to every other fan in Valorant. Any NRG fan is there because of FNS and som(yes they slowly transitioned to current roster but still), PRX dont make that much roster changes, FNC cuz of boaster and Alfa, 100T cuz of Asuna and Cryo etc.

Orgs being allowed to make a roster change after any result at any time is slowly killing the scene because nobody is gonna be fan of the player in just 2 months and 4 games.

Thats why I dont watch every SEN games anymore unless its important. I am not gonna watch the org just because I know johnqt.

  1. VCT is no different than Ranked. I wanna learn something when watching VCT but rn everybody is just running the same thing and they're just running down with neon +1. I would rather watch som or Subroza stream than VCT at this point.

Its making billions in china. That will finance the rest of the world no matter what.

Plus we're just in a lull period it happens. Ups and downs exist

It's just dying in the west, esports as a whole is dying in the west

Esports for any game does tend to face a downfall faster in west especially in na. They just move on quite fast.

I think it's in a fine state as a game tbh letting numbers define it makes it seem far worse than it actually is and I think the community let's the game down far more than riot does

In N.A. for sure. Valorant was carried by the names. Across the world probably not

I don't think its roster changes that is killing the game, its the fact that playing ranked is terrible so Valorant is losing players and then also because the devs will take an almost perfectly good meta and blow it up because a loud minority want to play a glorified CS.

Honestly i think its just on a normal decline. Got a boom for pandemic, been slowly declining back to "normal", probably gonna rise more organically from now on
