17 (and now 18) year olds are above the age of consent in every european country, including both poland and bulgaria (their home countries). 17yos are technically minors, but the term “minor” is almost purely demographic (from what i can find at least) and seems to have no legal repercussions from dating someone over 18 (minor is more used judicially and in other contexts than the age of consent). the age of consent is also purely if they can have sex, and relationships with someone over and someone under the age of consent are technically legal, if morally gray (of which this is not as she is over).

i know as an indian (or for americans too) 18 seems like a pretty clear cutoff, but in europe this just… isnt the case (to my knowledge at least), or at least as much of one. in most of europe, almost everything age restricted (such as driving, drinking, consenting, etc) is doable by 16, and as such 18 is less of a meaningful number, meaning that (i presume) not many europeans would shirk at a relationship between a 17 (now 18) year old and a 21yo. as an aside, here in canada, even though the age of consent is 16, relationships between 16yos and people over 18 are a bit of a grey area because of our huge american influence. as mentioned, this is most likely not the case (or at least as much) in europe
