From what i understand, after the group stage the 1st seed and 2nd seed work how they did last year for stage 2, but then with the playins whoever wins wil take the place of 3rd seeds last year as well as runner up of playins, and then 3rd and 4th in playins act as 4th seeds
Basically, 1st seeds get a by in the uppers, 2nd seeds of groups play finalists of play ins and then the 3rd and 4th of playins start in the lower brackets
