Esports for India is like how CS is for Korea. Dead or no proper scene. Only mobile gaming has some relevance in India.

Gaming was never Meta in India. Mobile gaming surfaced but that's about it.

Even now, it is not something that is heavily considered pursuing professionally

Korean's aren't really good at raw mechanical shooting games like CS. They just practice a lot so they excel at games that require a lot of coordination and teamwork such as league. Valorant and Overwatch are more like that which are util and coordination heavy, hence being really the only two shooting games that they are good at.

it's because cs was not a big game as warcraft/starcraft and league back then

internet cafes and not having cs due to some licensing bullshit, they had a good cs 1.6 roster with wemadefox however (had solo aka geng coach)

Population diff doesn't matter if the esports culture is just that much bigger in Korea. I wouldn't be surprised if even the player base is bigger in kr for Val than in USA. It's basically the china football situation. Population thing doesn't make sense.

Kinda does matter. And no kr player base isn't bigger. This one source for 2025 shows that it's in fact almost double.
https://icon-era.com/blog/valorant-live-player-count-and-statistics.98/#:~:text=Table_title:%20Valorant%20Server%20Status%20by%20Region%E2%80%8B%20Table_content:,Status:%20Online%20%7C%20Players%20Online:%2079%2C365%20%7C

You also have to understand that it's a country with such a small youth population where all men have to do mandatory military service and we see pros leaving all the time for service.

But the things is esports is just that much bigger as a culture in Korea. Why is Korea not as good as USA in basketball? Or why is Korea not as good as Australia in sports in general despite having double the population? Culture matters a lot. Esports literally started from Korea. It would be embarrassing if Korea wasn't good at esports.

Putting aside your factual fallacies, yeah culture matters. However your comparisons are pointless. You're acting like Korea is by far and away the most passionate valorant nation in the world. Europe is far more passionate, Japan most definitely is far more as well, Brazil is just as passionate, US is more too, etc. We're not comparing american football or basketball in the us vs korea since barely anyone cares for it there. We're comparing valorant which many places around the world care for more than Korea (who again has a minuscule young population relatively with pros who can't even stay for as long cause of military).

Lol passion for watching doesn't mean shit if the esports ecosystem isn't there. Biggest viewership for football comes from Asia but are Asian countries the best in football? And even according to the data you shared Korea alone has more player base than any other country except for USA. That alone tells you how big the gaming and esports scene is in Korea.

This is one nation we're talking about, versus entire regions. When an NA or EU team wins it's often a mix of american canadian brazilian, or western european/russian players, the very best of each country. Korean teams are just 5 koreans with korean coaches.

So what bruh? Why even divert the topic now? Did I even say anything about teams? You literally edited your comment about population thing and I have only been talking about that.

Tf u even saying you went from culture matters a ton to passion doesn't matter if no ecosystem as if americans or brazilians or europeans or japanese are crippled third world regions that don't have access to pc's or internet. Also nah I just edited out the americans might have more winners part but that can be attributed to population since I went and counted and in fact korea is the nation with most winners, I still stand by my point.
