is champs not just masters, just later in the year with a bigger prizepool?
why is it sm more prevalent when compared to masters

it helps that it's also the last tourney of the year
also 16 instead of 12 teams
and no 1 seed advantage
More teams present, each team is theoretically at its peak, it’s the end of the season so the pressure to keep your job is there, riot calls it champions so it sounds more important than masters
Money and prestige. It's hyped up as the winner of the year by Riot themselves, so it makes sense that people consider it the most important. It also happens at the end of the year, which gives all the rosters made throughout the year time to reach their peaks.
I hate that shit man but at least Masters winners get more respect than MSI winners
Riot is trying to create another worlds ecosystem gimmick when it's not at that level yet, maybe in 10 years, they need to realize ts only works in moba where meta barely changes.
Worlds is that prestigious cause there was no other international event that was really prestigious or considered important. Like MSI until 2023 was basically a Mickey mouse event in format and shit like that. It's not the same for Val. Masters will always be considered prestigious even after a decade. Obviously not prestigious as champs.
So did The International in Dota, back then TI was the only major tournament. Masters and Champs were introduced together by riot when valorant just started, so the prestige level is not that difference (yet), wait maybe in 10 years when the sponsors are getting crazy with the event getting broadcast to national tv
Production value maybe. I know for sure champs shanghai will be crazy cause CN does go hard on venue and shit.
