Wasn't there a statement (source: trust me) that said Kaplan had full control of the roster and not really Rob?
Assuming that's true, it seems Rob was likely just parroting what Kaplan was talking about when he theorized the roster originally and the org lost faith in the execution when the player development didn't look good. In a multi year project I would want the fundamentals/foundation of the project to be good and I don't think we really saw good or even improving fundamentals from the roster.
In addition, the ideas in the short term don't look good. Why are we playing solo init Tejo on Split? the IGL plays fade and they're not playing scan init on a double duelist comp. The only other team (G2) to play Tejo on Corrode dropped it after losing 13-3, and looks amazing without it, switching to double duelist. I can see where it works in scrims and then not on stage, but to see everyone else run double duelist all over the place and then neither claim to be prioritizing fundamentals for the long term nor switch quickly to the double duelist, seems kinda indecisive, and makes it rather believable that the org would have reason to lose faith in the coach.
Also kinda looks like a case of winning fixes everything, N4RRATE was proven uncomfy on duelist with Zekken and when they switched off double it worked last year, and suddenly we expect that he works well on it (with let's be real, worse help)? Not sure what inspired the single duelist, no Redux on yoru to begin, but it didn't look or end good.
