i want to quit val because its ruining my mental health but im scared i’ll lose my interest for watching vct, and i literally have no other hobbies. so im wondering how many of u guys don’t actually play the game but just watch

it seems way more fun but im scared me stopping playing the game will make me slowly lose interest in the esport
I doubt that playing the game itself is the only thing that allows you to maintain your interest in the esport. If that were the case, I'd say you weren't actually enjoying the esport side of the game to begin with.
Obviously it's not representative of everybody, but numerous watch party streamers hardly even play the game anyway. Like Sliggy for example, and as he has stated, he loves watching the game.
ur probably right, i dont play football irl anymore but i still watch it.
When you see it played masterfully it is really pleasant .. My friends hate this game so much...he watched a VCT game with me....hop on he says, gave me motivation to play...and it takes just agent select to remind how shit it is(aka...instalock, reyna, pheonix, jett no mics)
i havent played in months, my mental health is geniunely better and i still love vct :P
yea i hope i can do the same, i find my mood for the day depends on how i do in ranked and i cant continue like this.
maybe with all the free time i could even get a job or start working out
i play like 3 games a day, sometimes 0 depending on my mood
its frustrating sometimes but you gotta just find the right person to play with
i run it down w my duo and its fun, dont really care much abt whether we win or lose
yea none of my irl friends play val, and im higher rank than my online friends too. tbh i dont even enjoy the game, i just play it because i wanna hit radiant but idk if its worth my time

i started playing overwatch cause my friends practically forced me to and i actually ended up liking it even though i thought i wouldnt
im happy to try any other game, because if i ever try overwatch im gonna hand 9wntr the biggest W of his life because he always talks about how overwatch is «back» and i keep making fun of him

i love minecraft but i cant really get into it without friends. i love clash of clans and hay day, childhood games i still play to this day. ive enjoyed fifa in the past, but mostly the grinding aspect of it. hogwarts legacy was fun, ive played through it twice. lego star wars was very fun as a kid, i played the newest one and it was good but i got bored after one playthrough. those are pretty much all the games ive ever played
i agree w the mc part, its only fun w friends. i played hytale, similar to mc. you can try it w friends if you want
ima be honest ive played like none of the games youve played besides mc and coc 😭
i can give you a general recommendations, resident evil 4 remake is the greatest game ive ever played and it changed my life, and cp2077 is great too
both go on sale pretty frequently on steam
how good does my pc need to be for those? i built mine specifically for fps games so i have a 7800x3d, 16gb ddr5 and a 3060. 1080p 240hz monitor
I just sporadically queue whenever I feel like playing. There are weeks where I don't even think about playing and days where I queue all day. Idk if my advice will be useful but if you feel like its negatively affecting you but still feel passionate about the game then just playing the game less. You don't have to completely quit nor do you have to play so much that it reaches the point where your health is worsening.

just hop on an alt and play a few swifts a day to level it up, then set a challenge for urself in ranked like go chamber like cryo
im not built for that, and it would RUIN my mental health. ill play 5stacks with u guys but not more than that

I moved on from competitive live service games (quit val in April 2024) and I don't regret doing so, frankly
I suggest playing something souls-like that could spark your dopamine levels after beating a hard ass boss
Also could hit the gym, sports or something like that as well
Personally, I have never lost interest in vct so far but if i ever do so, then it's just the way of things and all i can i do is move on
the only game like that ive played is hogwarts legacy, it was fun but im very picky when it comes to games so im very hesitant when it comes to spending money on them
Saints row 2 is cheap and fun af (just install the juiced patch cuz the PC port is ass)

ain't nothin wrong with watching the game without playing the game. both are completely different experiences so it's understandable to like one without doing the other. i watch vct way more than i play the game simply because i enjoy it more.
used to play the game insanely serious, rad and on as t3 team. but now i just play swiftplays and watch vct and my life is great
i stopped playing as much, played other games, watched vct kickoff and the games got me gassed so i started playing again

i play with my friends....just hit the last 2 games alone(he went to work) ........I never play this game alone...ever
But watching VCT makes me sharper and increases my game sense a lot...The aim ...idk how i play better when I am 2-3 weeks without shooting
facts you somehow play better when you dont play but then u have one bad game where u go 5-19 and u just wanna never play again
just dont play when youre not in the mood, try do something productive like school work thats due in a few weeks or housework
honestly helped me improve at the game as well
idk about everyone else but unless you’re really into a sport then your passion of watching it fades the less you play it, especially if you got into watching it because you started playing it. for u rn, just drop the game since just being scared at all that you’ll stop watching vct is already a good sign you’ll keep following the esport
i actually play val and have devoted way too much time to it, but i also make music which is my main other hobby along with some other games I play with friends more (modded terraria, rocket league, jackbox)
Haven't touched val since EG won Champs cause I had to lock in professionally and I still love VCT
