against non-APAC teams: 6-3 (66.7% wr)
against APAC teams: 2-4 (33.3% wr)
Lost at Bangkok to an APAC team, got knocked to lowers at Toronto by an APAC team, and lost b2b games to APAC teams to bomb out from champs playoffs immediately

i haven't seen it talked ab much recently so i wanted to bring it up again since G2 qualified for another another another another international
Everyone would say last year that g2 couldn’t deal with apac aggression/gimmick gameplay + also couldn’t beat Fnatic
i wonder if it'll be the same/worse this year considering NS play really uniquely from what ive seen/heard
It will be better this year, g2 themselves are embracing that style so they’ll be more prepared for it + other NA teams are also running that kind of style too like Furia

no BLG/DRG, DRX/GenG, FNC/TH/VIT/GX or SEN
If you look at the games themselves its not that surprising, the only time they played a non apac team that was playing particularly well was once against FNC at toronto. on the other hand they played DRX and PRX at champs, PRX at toronto, and t1 at bangkok
Also apart from arguably the DRX game, those games were all decided by 1-2 rounds max. They were extremely close, it’s not like g2 was getting blown out
yeah... ngl its annoying the hate g2 gets like if you dont just take the average level of play during the whole year they werent the best team last year. Also the being called chokers when like they played quite well vs t1 and almost all of their other international losses (besides EDG at bangkok and TH at champs to an extant) were in games that weren't surprising losses tbh
The only actual choke g2 had was vs T1 at Bangkok, other losses were losses due to bad meta reads (particularly at Toronto) or matches where they weren’t even favored (like vs PRX at champs). Like yes G2 was the favorite coming into Toronto, but only with the assumption that they would run good comps just like they did in Kickoff/Bangkok/Stage 1
Tbh i wouldnt call the t1 loss a choke considering G2 played well in that game but t1 just happened to play by far their best game of the year (and got pretty lucky)
