not to flex but I breezed through school with great grades, and I wouldnt call myself gifted but I have an incredible memory (obv not photgraphic or anything), the problem is I am off to uni very soon as I got into UoA for biochem/cell biology ( i live in new zealand) and because I found secondary school quite easy I never actually developed any study habits or ways to consistently retain information past when I learn it and Im starting to feel the pressure as more and more people tell me that I must quickly develop these skills in order to do well. can someone please tell me if these study methods are like super required? are they easy to attain?

hmm we are maybe in the similar boat but i take more math/stat subjects. In my case, i had a good enough background in algebra and high school math to do well in my calculus, linear algebra and stats classes.

one of the things i learned in uni so far is to make a reasonable (one that i can accomplish consistently), yet flexible enough schedule. Also dont procrastinate

as for study habits, i digest the concepts from the lecture then do practice problems in my spare/study time but thats more so the nature of the subjects and classes i take, idk if the same is applicable for natural sciences

as someone that went into engineering, having a lack of study habits really hurt me. it took a while to develop these but i got there eventually. i would say yes, they are very required

Solve more questions. In the end its all about if you can solve a problem, hit those excercises and questions at the end of chapter and start solving.

You will find a way of studying that will fit u even if you fill some of the first test. If anything giving up isnt gonna get you anywhere but you can make it. And there will also be some courses that you will just enjoy and will still be easy

its not that hard to develop, just find a way to organize that fits u, if you had good grades in highschool without studying much it already means that u will be fine

science is the hardest subject you can study at university bro.. also.. most hours with homework.. finally most can get it done.. but for perfect grades like 4.0 gpa, goodluck!

congrats on getting the uoa

here's the tips that I do for studying:

after every lecture, close the notes and write what you remember
come back 3 days later and do it again from memory
once a week, connect the topics that were discussed

i was the same, at the start of the school year i was drowning in the ton of work i had to do and never really worked in highschool, so i had bad work habits and hated working
just try to like working, if u take the train or have long bus rides, study in the bus, its carrying me like crazy right now, and have good sleep, bad sleep schedule will kill you
work in the holidays, idk for u but my teachers dont take it slow when u get out of holidays, they maybe even go faster than before
edit : by good sleep schedule i mean at least 6 hours

Cooked is when you have to do your thesis. That’s when the real stress begins.
