Envy Halo team also rebranded as Optic recently, they might just be pushing everything over to Optic for more name value.
I could see that in terms of halo given it's huge console presence which is really where I could see the optic brand being worth more (that and cod but their cdl spot it already locked) moving the Val team over would be weirder given envy is such a strong brand in pc fps (granted one of those is through the Dallas fuel) guess only time will tell really
They most likely are betting that the CDL OpTic viewers will migrate over given the brand, which may well work considering how good Activision is at killing the CDL at the moment...
Also OpTic was briefly part of NACS and had some success, so it at least isn't completely unfamiliar to NA PC FPS.
i think its because optic was pretty big back in the day of cod trickshotting, them and FaZe had a rivalry. Maybe they want that type of hype again.
Haven't heard about Optic beside of COD. While Envy have more PC-Epsort teams. I would say for PC fanbase, Envy is more popular brand than Optic
Optic did have a CSGO team (Mixwell's old home) and a League team. They're not unfamiliar with PC esports.
