I watched this shit and it was going well until the ending. What a dogshit ending. Why as a peak motorsport athlete this man is not trying to win? What the shit kind of ending is that

Okay I think Cars 1 is crazy overrated but it's not cause of it's ending lmao
because he was living a fake miserable life with no one who really cared about him and the friends he made were more important to him than winning, as a result this changed mcqueens mindset into becoming more sentimental and caring toward others. That mindset change is what inspires him to give up the win to make sure Strip finishes his last race. Obviously there are many ways he could have achieved this but giving up his win right at the finish line for something seemingly unimportant is the symbolic gesture of lightnings character arc especially when you consider it would have been easier to finish the race and THEN help Strip
yeah but that is not fair to him or Strip. He worked his entire life for this moment, and Strip had a career full of glory. This pathetic pity that rookie gave you while giving up p1 is not realistic and is mockery to sport itself.
It's not pity
McQueen sees Strip and is reminded of how Doc's career ended and how it haunted him for the rest of his life - going as far as to moving to a remote rural town and forsaking racing
Much like you Strip is at first confused and asks him why on earth he would give up the glory and his response is "it's just an empty cup"
Lightning is a peak motorsport athlete like you say except his journey is realising that there are things more important in life than just racing.
He doesn't want Strip to be ridden with regret and shame - and thanks to lightning helping him finish the race he isn't
Chick Hicks wins the Piston Cup so he should be the most fulfilled of all the characters right? He reached the peak? Yet his victory is hollow and meaningless because he used dirty tricks and had no principles. Yes results are important in Sports but integrity, sportsmanship and the journey matter just as much as the result, all things that Lightning epitomises by the end of the film.
it paid off for him in the long run, he learnt a very valuable lesson that carries on for the rest of his life
Not sure about how others think but I personally really enjoyed Materβs character development arc throughout the movie.
I hate Mater because I've never liked super cringey comic relief characters but yeah I guess it was alright
all i can say to you is bad words little man, hating on cars will not be tolerated! especially cars 1!
