my laptop has this issue where my screen randomly starts feeling like 60hz. it says im at 144hz in my display settings and nvidia control panel but it doesnt feel like it. if i switch to 60hz it feels extra slow, and if i switch back to 144hz after that it feels the exact same as it did initially.
this completely fixes after i restart my pc.
i've already tried reinstalling an older nvidia driver but this is still an issue

chatgpt is just yapping, and reddit isnt being very helpful so thought might as well ask here

i'm not sure how to check that but it could be the problem

it should be in the same nvidia app as the one you update your drivers in

i uninstalled the nvidia app while looking for solutions because i read that it can cause issues. though i did change my power management mode to prefer maximum performance

Battery Boost can limit your fps when you open a game, its a different setting than the one you mentioned

i did turn battery boost off earlier, but ill download the app and do that again. this issue doesnt exclusively happen when i open games though. even if im like watching youtube or something it randomly becomes shitty

probably around 4-5 ish months ago. but this is an issue ive already been thinking of because my temps have felt higher. didn't think it was related to this issue specifically though because it happens even if my temps are fine

Turn off Energy saving mode
Turn on performance mode If you have any
Check If display setting in windows is selected to proper monitor and go to advanced settings and go to 144hz
NVIDIA control panel might not be working for selected display
display setting in monitor turn on adaptive sync or gsync and also dont use any automatic default setting for refresh rate or performance modes

Tysm for all your tips, I tried most of them before and ended up finding out that the issue was likely corrupted windows files. I used the sfc scan now command and it fixed up some corrupted files

what my issue was using CRU (custom resolution utility) and bugging up one of the settings which locked my frame rate more specifically my refresh rate on VAL to whatever when i switched to that resolution
