offseason tournament so the results don't really matter, but looking at their comps i'm genuinely lost at why they would drop jonahp for babybay. Other than maybe babybay asking for less money, it genuinely makes no sense. if their rationale was opening up their comps to be able to play leaf on duelist with jawgemo, they didn't even need to drop jonah in the first place, because he can play sentinel (and has) with good results. and by looking at their comps during rbhg, it seems they have no interest in experimenting or trying out double duelist- you'd think the time is now to see what does and doesn't work. i think this team will find out very soon that their system is just outdated and that dropping jonahp was a big mistake. their inability to change up their comps was the biggest reason they failed in 2025 and they're still not addressing that issue with him, if not making it even worse by signing someone less flexible.

it’s not a money issue, it’s a decision that they made within the last 3 weeks according to JoshRT

I also can’t believe they moved the most consistent sentinel player in the world last year to flex
Surely it’s not worth it

because they needed someone to wake them tf up when they start choking until they lose 11-13 agaisnt other top teams like paper rex or fnc, and babybay is a better zellsis cuz he doesnt get tilted and he shoots better too, also leaf was him on sentinel but you are completely ignoring his 2023 season on c9 where he played flex and was the best rated player of the long group stage season

Nah leaf was on duelist in 2023, he hasn’t really flexed since he first started playing valorant. That being said, leaf is too good and smart to not be capable of playing this many agents

no he wasnt he played jett on jett maps but on other maps xeppa played raze and he flexed check by yourself

i’m not ignoring leaf at all, i think he always has been a fantastic player and in no way was i talking him down. but I think -jonahp doesn’t address the problem with last year which was their comps. look at champs and toronto, they defaulted onto the same yoru-omen-fade-tejo-viper comp with the occasional switchup in both tournaments, which were coincidentally their biggest disappointments. they played this comp on split against a yoru raze meta in toronto that they lost almost if not everytime against, and it was even worse at champs. when your primary scan initiator gets benched from sova and fade on every map except ascent, that is a huge problem and swapping senti players will not fill that.

im guessing dropping jonahp is some rushed decision they made hence they just made leaf play what jonahp was playing like breach. But when kickoff starts surely they'll just run viper+senti comps on all maps with leaf-babybay right, or double duelist

would love to see double duelist, just unsure why they haven't even tried playing it here. there is zero stakes unlike kickoff, and it's not like g2 hasn't been actively scrimming
