Do you guys know if the 18+ age requirement for competing in t1 is legally required as its an international circuit? Or is there a chance that riot lowers the age requirement during all the big changes within the next 2 years.

it's so weird cause not only is it legal in many places to work while 16 but even more so when it comes to sports/esports it doesn't seem to be an issue anywhere else
it is for VCT EMEA because of German child labour laws, idk about the other regions but Id imagine rito wants the age rules to be consistent across all regions
its not required by law but it's in place to not deal with labor laws with minors. there was a situation at gcc 2022 where they had to postpone a game to the next day because a player, who was under 18, hit the maximum allowed work hours for a minor
Multiple ascension teams have had that happen and they usually field a sub until they turn 18
Tbh I don't see why it doesn't exist anyway people under 18 should be focusing on school anyway
50k minimum salary for vct players i think i'd rather take the offer than go to uni (you can go at any age)
Yeah but you typically finish more basic? (idk what to call it) school at 18 before you would apply to uni and such just grind t2 while at school or something I just don't think people should be in tier 1 that young
college ends at 18 yeah i guess so
in the uk its free education but if you're too old you have to pay for college courses
and then uni is uni
but at the end of the day, you can still do these things later in life (even if it feels weird) at least in the uk
the age requirements exist because in franchise valorant you have to stay in a foreign country for at least one entire split, since they are only going to play one tournament it doesn't matter, it's the same in CS
