I honestly felt this as well. I think I changed one of my pickems last second to give China a chance, but in reality, it just wasn't meant to be. China usually has a plucky underdog who surprises everyone. BLG in 2023, TE in 2024. Wolves were that this year at Toronto, but they're not at Champs and I would say every other team were fairly strong in-season at China. DRG could have been the underdog maybe, but no Vo0kashu.
The Jieni7 prefire whiff irked me badly. Nats wasn't even visible and he just blind shot and stuck in the smoke. If he were patient and killed nats when he pushed the smoke, pati and trexx don't double swing lamps. For what it's worth, we should still enjoy that China had quite a diverse set of teams and star players to make their presence known.
Last little side note, NathanD has got to be the unluckiest coach. 2024 with FPX, he is in the group of death with GENG, TH and SEN. Pushed teams to overtime and showed a lot of quality, but fell short. DRG looks to be the same - not able to close out a map especially without Vo0kashu. Honestly, this was quite literally a repeat of last year - grouped with the 2 grand finalists of the 1st Masters and TH who are always a team to be worried about now.
I checked again and it seems like Jieni7 could see the tiny barely visible non muzzle flash from nats' phantom, but nats had already moved to the right and Jieni7 missed
like I just don't get it like why a shorty bro like it's a WIDE choke like it's not lamps door type choke like cmon
like how hard was it to just play towards number advantage and use the more reliable gun when trying to play in a smoke
you use a shorty when you're DOWN and need to catch an enemy by SURPRISE
you keep your vandal up when you DON'T WANT TO THROW THE GAME
and yeah DRG coach is unlucky as fuck
The shorty in smoke is always a good option, but there wasn't much for Jieni7 to accurately go off of. He should have waited for nats to commit closer for the shot. You don't need to be down in numbers to make use of the shorty. The shorty in the smoke is a viable idea but just needs to be executed patiently.
to be fair i think if vookashu was playing DRG would look significantly better
YEA, the shorty was just like me in ranked unacceptable for a pro to whiff that in close range
the pro player boner to hold a secondary over a fully loaded primary will always baffle me
Props to him had the most impact on two maps maybe he will be staying
He's just not what EDG needs, he can be a very good player I'll give him that but they need someone like s1mon, a support player that can activate everyone on EDG
He was fine, he got thrust into the starting lineup halfway through stage 2 and it was his first international tournament. VLR always gonna overreact
