I picked up smoking when I was like 12 because I thought it made me "look cool". I remember getting really nic-sick the first few times and coughing my lungs out but after like 3 or 4 cigarettes my body already started to get dependant and now I've been a smoker since 12
It's a long road, always doable though. Not exactly in a moment of my life where I can seriously consider quitting but once the times change I will
no haha nothing of the sort, when quitting you just have to be prepared to have a week or two where every small thing will make you mad and you will feel like you have almost no energy to do hard things because you can't have a smoke break afterward
it's the nicotine content inside of the cigarette itself, it's also the exhale i really like as well. but don't smoke if you don't like it.

It tastes progressively better as you age and your tastebuds become less sensitive to the bitterness and roughness. Also in a lot of cocktails and sweet liquors one hardly even tastes any alcohol at all.

Its calms your nerves and relaxes you. Considering its your first time you probably didnt take a big inhale and your throat aching might be so strong for it to distract from all other effects.
I enjoy the effects of moderate smoking but limit it to 3-4 cigarettes a month out of principle because i do feel a slight tingling and sense my hand grasping the ghost of a cigarette when i had too much in the past during my party days.
I do feel like if you get addicted you deliberately opted to do so. You can sense addiction developing in real time. The weaker Substances can be easily managed with basic education, discipline and sense of self preservation. Obviously the more powerful substances such as heroin and the like i shall never touch.

Don't do it, it's really tough to quit. I've been wanting to quit for so long but it's actually so hard. I know it's really bad for me and i don't want to do it but i just can't start my day without lighting one. If you guys can help me quit in anyway i'll be grateful forever. I do it mostly because it helps me relax with all my college pressure
idk how my dad did to fully overcome the nicotine addiction, but i know that apart of the pleasure is also in the movement you do when you smoke, and if you do that movement with smth thats not a cigarette, it still kinda tricks your brain into thinking you're smoking, i remember my dad doing the movement of smoking with those cigarette shaped biscuits and it helped him. idk if i was clear
Idk how acting like smoking cigarette would trick your brain into thinking it got the nicotine rush but at this point I've tried so much to quit, i might just give doing that a shot... Thanks for sharing your dad's story though hopefully I'll quit before this year ends
Distract your mind, do other activities like going gym instead, stay away from smokers. Set small targets at first and slowly but eventually it will go.
I never understand how people get addicted to it.
My friends were smokers and for 4 months, atleast 4 times a week, I smoked a cigarette everyday. It was forced and didn't particularly hate it nor loved it. It's been almost a year and never once after that I had any craving or wanted to smoke.

That is not how addiction starts, you don't just experience it once and be like "wow I need more", It is when you decide to try it again that is how it starts.
That’s actually a really common first reaction, most people don’t like their very first cigarette is harsh, the smoke burns and the coughing feels unpleasant
The “addiction” part usually doesn’t come from enjoying that first puf, Even if the smoke feels bad nicotine can give a quick hit of focus, calmness or relief from stress. Over time, your brain starts linking smoking with comfort routine or social situations That’s how people end up craving it
Honestly, if you didn’t enjoy it that’s a huge win. You’re not missing out on anything good, and it’ll be way easier to just leave it that way
If you smoke or vape consistently, lets say one or two cigarettes a day, the head rush feels extremely good. As soon as you get to like more than 5 a day or a vape hit all the time, you don't feel anything but your body is addicted. Also, believe it or not, some people acquire the taste and LIKE cigs. I for example like turquoise American spirits but to a normal person it tastes like tobacco and dirt. Dont take a second trust your gut!

Cigarettes aren't addictive I think. I've been smoking occasionally for like 4 years and I can go weeks/months without smoking. I don't feel the need to smoke, I am having a tea or coffee, I just light one.
Try flavored cigarettes too like mint flavored or smth. They're cool.
