HOW ARE YOU GUYS NOT AFRAID OF PLANES

I’m not talking about having a phobia or panic attacks.
But not feeling at least a bit of apprehension = being reckless.

We’re talking about a means of transport that flies at 800–900 km/h, 10 km above the ground, and takes you across the Atlantic in 7 hours. So yeah, even if accidents are extremely rare, and it’s the safest way to travel, etc., etc… Even today, it’s still an incredible machine, and way too impressive.

Like, you’re in there, 10,000 meters above the Atlantic, and you manage to be 100% calm? You’ve got a problem.

And yeah, I’m making this post because in less than 24 hours I’ll be crossing the Mediterranean, and I already know I’m gonna have massive diarrhea the very morning of the flight.

statistcally ur more likely to die in a car crash rather than a plane crash

I feel like this stat is kinda skewed because there's more cars on the road every day than planes and it's not like the avg driver on the road is nearly as well trained as a pilot

yeah, its a really bad stat when peop,le say this because nobody accounts for the population of car : populationb of planes daily ratio

the difference is flights run infinite simulations for any kind of situation unlike driving cars which is more rng and depends on the driver skills.

Driving on the road is crazy because you could be the perfect driver and still die because someone else crashed into you that's sad

It's because per distance traveled, you're much less likely to be killed in a plane. It's not raw numbers, planes are still much safer when you control for utility.

Yeah I do think planes are safer I just don't understand the statistics that I see most often

Well if u think about it you'll never get a drunk pilot. With car drivers on the other hand... It's much more random. If u don't take that into account then it's a bit closer

don't airplanes usually have stopover locations for gas refills?

everybody are afraid of flying with airplane at some point. they are just taking a gamble since there's no other transport that's statistically safer than to fly. if they aint they just cope or havent experienced what a slippery and bumping landing or take off in cheap budget airline.

Its okay to feel a bit nervous due to the sheer magnitude of forces these machines display. Your own body cannot help you in the slightest to maintain your safety in there whereas in a car you can to some level. Its just about using your cognitive reasoning to put your mind at ease with the truth. Reassuring yourself whenever the fear starts creeping back in.

At this point only turbulence is a bit scary sometimes for me but otherwise im fine. However i've never been terribly scared of heights.
