Yes internationally regionally no. In international games he shits the bed against any non-cn team. But regionally he outcalls the majority of igls

have an incredible read on the game, win a championship, then go through several meta shifts until he no longer has a clear read
i heard the assistant coach (anderzz i think) is like a god at reading the meta, so that definitely helps.
Which is interesting because G2 plays a ton of double Smokes and Senti while both Masters winners this year played double Duelist.
maybe i over exaggerated but i think he was the main turning point for G2 like, always running tejo.

Boaster had the equivalent of a Superteam the one year he won his trophies. On the other hand, Valyn dragged a core of rookies to an international in 2022, through Ascension, and then to 5/6 internationals in the last two years. Give the man some props.

John was never a great caller, but he is a great trader and clutcher. Not all IGLs need to be insane an insane callers. So i do not think that he is overrated. Today at least ,it was not definetely not his fault.
john is the GOAT , no cope , the meta revolves and currently is not suiting his style of calling thats all , personally he just needs to implement a more stratbook type of play to the current roaster like G2 and NRG for a chance to even make it out of group stage , needs to study the opponent more clearly they didnt do their research enough , they knew GX likes to show aggression on some defence rounds GX go for high risk high reward and follow a complete stratbook play when they do so thus they won SEN relies on calling more so if they loose john is the one to blame while in reality its not him , its just the style of "playing" that is fucking this current roaster over and thus people start to think or blame that sen lost again oh no , no Chinese teams john bad remove john he dogshit , i dont get these low iq people
