They have had multiple opportunities to do something at internationals, but they can't win for shit. Everybody would rather have a different team go to champs because they might actually win shit. Ik TH have made finals before, but if TH goes to champs, they are gonna get grouped or lose in finals. Nobody wants a Champions final where the winner is already decided.

They didn't look really good when they went out of the playoffs 0-2 without winning a single map

EWC is an offseason event regardless of your opinion on it. You won't find me treating Sen City Classic / SOOP as a normal international.
EWC definitely holds more weight than sen city or soop lol... not as much as a masters but it still is a trophy

also yes it is an offseason event but I would say its similar to lock in bc almost every t1 team played to qualify, and only g2 and drx were playing with subs. Format was kinda weird but if you look back to like some 2021 tournaments or lock in then ewc doesnt look completely out of place. Just because it isnt directly from riot doesnt mean it holds any different weight to if riot held that exact tournament. Ofc its not a masters but I still think its a trophy nonetheless and should be considered as such
IDK, a couple of years from now, no one will remember offseason event winners. The only thing that matters is masters and champs. You might still remember, but others won't.
there's no logic in this. you're basically saying if a 3rd party hosts an event after champs in the offseason, as long as every team is invited it is a legitimate trophy.
No, it happened during the regular season, used a pretty normal format, had the majority of t1 teams, and for the most part functioned as a regular tournament. I'm not arguing that its a masters, but if we compare it to like lock in the only difference is that its not hosted by riot. If the tournament itself played similar enough to a regular tournament, and the teams were trying as hard to win (which for 95% of teams, they were), then yes it's a legitimate trophy

- It did not have the majority of teams (no international has had the majority except for Lock IN). 16/48 is a minority.
- It did function like a regular tournament, but SOOP and Sen City Classic did as well.
- Teams were also trying as hard to win (which, for 95% of teams, they were), in SOOP and Sen City Classic. You cannot prove/disprove that teams were trying hard to win or not unless they are clearly throwing.
- It is a legitimate trophy, just an offseason one. It's fine to feel proud of it, but also in the grand scheme of things, it is worthless.

TBH, i don't hate TH, i just dislike them because they are the type of players that I most dislike: big mouth, bad performance. They reached a bunch of Grand Finals, but they always choke except for the EWC, mostly because of FNATIC choke's too. Okay, they made a great comeback and earned the trophy, but they still underperforms when they have to prove themselves.
They should stop acting like they were the best team of the world (because they're not even the best EMEA team) and focused on their game. Less talk, more trophies.

I always called it mickey. It's not an international riot hosted event on lan. We should always draw the line there. i heard some mfs yesterday say its legitimate cuz of prize pool. if we do that now the criteria is extremely blurry and you can call any event real now.
Yeah we called EWC Mickey mousey before it even began so it doesn't matter which team won it unless it was PRX then we would be ratioed.
