Is there any kind of research that is done to scientifically determine at which digits of BMI does a professional player perform optimally?
Is there any kind of research that is done to scientifically determine at which digits of BMI does a professional player perform optimally?
there is none iirc
I'll try to see if there's anything that comes up for other esports
Maybe.
Like majority of the winning teams either have people that are skinny or a little bit on the chubby side as mvp.
Or maybe they can see how much percentage of fat makes a player good
Does less make him more bad or more fat makes him more bad
how do we define gaming skills in this context? cause if we're gonna look for a paper, i dont know how researchers would measure that stuff. is it for fps games specifically? even then it seems too broad
alright i thought you meant we're gonna sample people of different bmi's and judge their skills. yeah a correlation analysis could probably be done with that then (bmi to trophies?)
well i am a statistics student so tell me if this sounds good. id get all players since the first masters and record their BMI and let BMI be the predictor for having a trophy
x_i <- BMI
y_i <- trophy (valued at either 1:winner or 0: loser)
I would probably use logistic regression as the model (which im not yet 100% confident in doing) for that since the distribution implies a binary outcome. I also dont think their height and weight is publicly available so that ends that. im also not a believer of bmi being a complete measure of health
i think the ideal peak someone can have is just a lean fit body, mental fitness starts physically.
Gaming skill is not a metric you would define on a scientific term, you could measure reaction time but how would you quantify game awareness and the strategic part of the game which the best players have and display during clutches and stuff
This is also very true. Only good for extremely obese non muscular population. I used to be “BMI obese” whilst being relatively lean at 15% BF.
This seems something where coorelarion doesn’t even mean causation. Because gaming is primarily reaction speed and ability to focus. Skinny or fat should not 100% directly correlate. Dare I say, a lot of it is genetics and upbringing.
