its like saying magnus carlson will drop from 1st to 10th because he didnt play in the world chess champion, and hikaru nakamura (say theoretically hes ranked 2nd) will drop to 5th place because he barely won.

cuz jivko was talking about Sen barely beating G2 as embarassing because a player didnt play for a few years.
Same situation for chess. Magnus didnt participate in the chess championship so when he comes back, because he hasnt been competing, anyone that barely beats him is just embarassing

As a matter of fact, it does. Not every 2 months but yes the "meta openings" changes from time to time. Same with the opening variations. You would know that if you actually watched chess
