Aussies are just unlucky. Completely isolated from everyone, so its hard to improve. Same in CS, not any real talent out there, just few decent players. Only exception could be jks
top3? renegades/100t was a solid top10 team. they just reached few semis in t1 tournaments.
they where closer to the top 8 but got signed by 100t right as covid haeppened n got dropped n ish hit the floor instantly
Because we haven't proven ourselves enough on the big stages, and there's not that many opportunities for us to do that. Weird how you are supposedly Australian but you're repping that flag?
couple reasons
- our scene is neglected, orgs don't put time, money and effort into the local oce scene (and I don't even blame them)
- Riot locked our region to the APAC region, and yes, while it is the closest, Americas, Europe, and even China might have more cultural similarities to the players wanting to get picked up if they are willing to relocate. it is these region locks that make other regions less wanting to pick Aus players up due to the import rule.
- Even in Pacific, they could not reasonably play for half the teams, for example, a player like Tixx could not play for DRX, t1, geng, ns, zeta, dfm, ts , talon. which leaves like boom,prx,rrq and GE. That makes one team in GE reasonable; it is very silly, but that's just how it works.
- There are players who I believe can play at a tier 1 level - we see Autumn playing on Fpx, and I believe players like Swerl/Andy/tixx could play at that level if they find a system that works for them.
-but also the oce scene is neglected by Riot and gets no attention/love from the VCT organisers.

The main factor for OCE underdevelopment is due to geographical location and less population. And I don't think OCE is actually near to NA cause it's like 12000 km approx. Yeah OCE almost gets neglected in APAC, but thanks to China Autumn is the only player in the tier 1 server. Although, OCE scene in Apex legend is quite big and most of the AL Aussie players play in NA. The only way OCE players can survive in tier 1 is by relocating them in APAC region as a whole or some Aussie players as import from other region !
im not saying australia is close to the Americas, because it isn't. What I'm saying is half of those teams speak English, which is what we speak, which isn't the case for apac as more than half of the apac teams don't use english as a primary communication language

You probably weren't around at the time but OCE WAS originally integrated to NA instead of APAC back in 2021, for LCQ champs 21.

- However, VISA screwed you guys over and the 2 OCE slot for NA LCQ was given to NA teams instead.
- In 2024 Moist esports Apex Legends team (Australia) was denied VISA to compete in US, resulting moistcritical had to let the team go (similar case).
OCE is in a weird state in esports. CS doesn't neglected you but they neglect Asia, Fortnite is still present, your Apex team is good, and COD culture still exist. Small population but wide demographic of interest. RIOT treat all region with equal international slots, in which other game refuse to do so (give Asia/South America less international slot as oppose to NA/EU). For esports, just integrate yourself with your timezone region (Asia), forget America.

i remember this. with chiefs and soniqs i think or some of those teams/players. then they got denied and that actually set us so back. never got to prove ourselves

There is literally one single org still in OCE and they finished like 8th its so cooked
Because no one invests in the oce scene and because there is no oce team in tier 1, no one pays any attention to us. The only chance we get is in the CN scene
if anyone is willing to invest in the OCE scene, shit would've been different
