Hakikimori GC

These guys played 2 games and then forfeited every single one from that point. Is this even allowed? Unless it is very important personal cause, why even waste slots for other willing teams like this?

This is fucked from the players if they did this. Barely any orgs invest in GC and then you do this to one which genuinely wants to invest. These people should get tournament bans.

imagine being a humble owner of a small internet merch retailer, choosing to branch out into valorant, and then getting your investment and image spat in the face by a bunch of players who can't even bother to play 2 games because of beef. they're better than all of us ngl

There is a reason some rules are in place. Contracts exist in this business because there is no inherit punishment to those who can just choose not to play a video game. I hope they come back from this rough patch.

Hopefully this gets more recognition because this is not good for the entire Val scene.

The players who did this should just be blacklisted from the scene, embarrasing

No way you're getting paid to play and ruin it by fighting. The gc scene destroys itself. Some stupid shit every week

The only time I hear anything about GC is when there's drama or someone won GC Champs.

Tier 2 league has more eyes and higher competition but those players aren't entitled to a salary. It's not right.

This is actually embarrassing
As if the gc scene wasn't cooked enough

Particularly the NA GC scene is cooked. EMEA, APAC and basically all of South and Central America take the scene decently serious and have dedicated orgs. Sure, the investment might be low in some of these regions or the quality of play might not be as high, but I have more respect for the integrity of these regions which have official orgs containing rosters that will play every game they are appointed. NA feels like an anomaly since there have been 3 big orgs investing in the scene at a time with the rest being either smaller orgs such as Hakikimori or just pick-up teams with a silly little name. I just wish Riot would take the scene a bit more serious in NA and put some vetting rules on players to enable that orgs pick up reliable individuals and give the fans more players to truly root for.

im sorry, but you can't blame riot for NA gc failures. Throughout the start of valo, NA had the most t1 teams in their circuit and the most investment. The problem is the players, they are not serious/mature apart from a very select few.

At the start of Valorant, there were a lot of orgs who had GC teams along side their main roster. Over the years, the bigger name orgs have dropped out like Faze, EG, C9 White. Orgs are gonna pull out if they see there is no money to be made and Riot should be incentivising these orgs to stay and sign the GC players. NA GC last year and this year has had max 3 big name orgs in the league and the remainder are smaller orgs or pick-up teams. On that front, Riot should be trying to get more orgs to help platform these GC players.

On top of that issue, what I was originally discussing was Riot having stricter vetting process on players because a lot of the GC pick-up teams drop out after 2 stages so they're not staying for a full season. I agree, that the players are an issue for not being serious or upholding professional integrity. However, Riot should still be working to enforce those professional standards including better identification/verification of players to avoid another noot noot incident.

this is why you just go to tier 2 or 3 and grind it out. you’ll make it up there if you’re good enough. game changers is forever a PR move to pander towards (insert group here) and is doomed to be tier 900 competition and not be taken seriously…

Wild that there was a whole convo recently about whether one of the top unsigned teams should be getting paid to play in NA GC, and then a signed team pulls something like this. This just makes more orgs more hesitant.
