I don't get this Trent until crutch narrative, his whole role as an initiator is to have good util, which he does along with world class mechanics. Is Leo a util merchant because he has damn near perfect util...no he is not. Has to just be G2 getting hated for being good or you all are fucking morons.
narratives dont need to make sense, all it needs is an obviously great player to diminish and a group of people that want do diminish that player. For this especific post i think hes joking btw but point stands
nah it just has to do with tejo specifically, he’s way too busted. g2 and trent are using him most efficiently that’s why they’re gettin hate. if you watched trent play he gets a good damn amount of value from the salvos in the clutch moments, obviously he’s a great individual player and he’s shown it in these clutch moments but when people think of tejo, first thing that comes to their mind is trent
doesn’t really help their case when they decided to put trent on tejo every map after bangkok
I'm sure Trent's mechanics and smart decision-making will heavily be impacted by having to play Sova (his previously best agent)

He is a good player overall, but like Verno said, this G2 squad would not be nearly as good as they are right now if it wasnt because of this broken agent that fits their playstyle perfectly.
i remember he said in one of the many Verno interviews out there when he was asked about the Tejo meta. Im pretty sure he also said something about G2 in the LATAM interview after the MIBR vs FURIA game
That’s a more a symptom of how much the team structure struggled with an inconsistent entry. Trent has already proven he frags better when the team plays at a faster tempo. If you just look at his Sova stats from this year, he was the best at KickOff and Bangkok and those stats are pretty 1:1 with his Tejo.
Yeah Trent is a very good player and he is probably a top 3 player this season so far, but the AMOUNT of impactful key rounds he won by just using his Tejo iPad is unlike any other Tejo in the world. Tejo is the ONLY agent he played so far in Stage 1
The problem is that Tejo highlights are just him winning several clutches staying alive every round and using his Tejo iPad, its not the most exciting playstyle that makes you think that the player is incredibly skilled. Unfortunate for Trent, but winning is winning so who cares
Look at this map 2 against MIBR:
Trent WON the game for G2 going 8/18 0.51 rating just by doing the cringe in their system. I think G2 will be heavily impacted (more than the other teams) if Tejo gets nerfed, but at least i still think they are favorites for Toronto, since the nerfs are only coming for Stage 2 I believe
True, their game plan in stage 1 revolved around post plants and if you nerf that then it’ll take a while to move away from it
