Theoretically, couldn't a tier 2 team in Challengers Spain get very, VERY good at one map (kinda like EG Fracture 2023 or 100T Bind 2024), pick that map every series, get an automatic win every series, and finish the regular season lossless? And no other team would be able to counter that because map bans aren't a thing (at least not according to the VLR match pages)?

i think i figured out why they did it (not saying it's good but trying to understand their reasoning)
they wanted to make winning a map more important, and with bo2s your final standings are just basically based on map wins
and if you have a bo2, then every team will play the same amount of maps no matter what
(Ignoring the fact that every single region has a different format in EMEA this year)
Because they not other regions?
They (and NE) have a much larger team count since they house multiple regions - as such you have different priority when it comes to the format
Bo2 allows you to get the maximum amounts of maps in per day, making it very suitable for Spain
