because that team was on a different g2. its like saying why the nip china team couldnt have kept some of the players from the nip eu team.
im pretty sure iirc that g2 dropped their full roster before the guard failing to sign the papers for franchising even happened
so they released oxy before, and he was probably in talks with c9 atp and then g2 got the guard roster
since g2 took the spot from tgrd, riot wanted to make it seem like it was not buying a slot in franchising, so they couldnt keep any players from their past g2 roster onto the new team
i could be spreading misinformation tho
g2 released their challengers roster which included oxy way before they picked up the guard core. also c9 prob locked him in much earlier
