FNS said on stream that Yay alone costed almost the same as the NRG core 3. so NRG got 3 instead of yay. And when he was F/A the rosters were already locked by then and they already got a lot of practice with his replacement (ardiiss).

No one said buyouts are equal to salary. However if an org like C9 who are considerably higher valued than NRG don’t have the money for yay then neither would NRG. Plus not to forget that C9 Val has been more successful than NRG a Al so this gives c9 more reason to fund their Valorant team

OPTIC not getting into partnership program -> Yay became RESTRICTED F/A with expensive buyouts -> C9 bought him from OPTIC -> C9 kicked Yay -> Yay now became UNRESTRICTED F/A (no more expensive buyouts) -> DSG picked him instead of NRG
