Question about peeking

I can't seem to win fights when Im walking forward and someone peeks me. I don't know how I reached Ascendant but I still have many flaws like this.

How do I instantly get off my W key and take the fight with A and D?

just shoot before your opponent, or do a quick sidestep and then shoot idk
play a lot of dm and u get used to it

I have this same problem too but I think there is no way around it besides positioning better so you have this scenario less often

Get this keyboard, counter strafing will be much faster, as soon as you let go of a key, you will stop instantly.

Move to Turkey

try taking small steps instead of holding w. its pretty hard to counterstrafe forward movement.

remember this, go on deathmatch and try to peek everything instead of full run swing, instead just go full w and peek before every angle, and remember best way to peek probably is to stop then do a wide swing, its hard to explain in text but just practice that and you will be fine

learn to counter strafe (CS) using w and s or the much more advanced version of :

w + a movement key then to CS - s + d

learn to one tap CS with all keys and not just A - D OR D - A and this problem will go away

I think that the best option is walking forward as less as possible. The W key really puts you in a big disadvantage for gun fights unless your on PRX, so whenever you're celaring or holding something make sure you're in a position where you can counter strafe. If you can't help abusing the W key then maybe you should change something about your playstyle

just bait your teammates first then peak

when you get to that level you shouldnt be holding W without a team and utility beside/behind you to trade. rethink your positioning relative to your teammates

I intentionally try to peek on ppl in positions where they would likely be holding W, and win most of those fights np

in CS this was a real problem because you had to hold S to stop yourself. in this game all you gotta do is let go of W and you just stop automatically.
