How does LEC team selection work?

I don't watch LoL esports, only know about a few very famous players like faker, perkz, rekkles etc. After KCorp roster announcements, I researched a bit about their lol roster and found out that they have Rekkles and they also won EU masters twice consecutively. Why arent they in LEC? Do the same orgs compete every year because of the partnership model? No promotion/relegation or slots to the winner of VRLs (idk the name of regional league equivalents in LoL)?

The org has to buy a spot in LEC

Yikes so the other orgs have to keep playing T2 leagues all year long with no T1 games soon in sight?

thats not really how LoL esports works.

You dont try to qualify to the main event, you get exp in the lower tier events then get signed to a real team.

Whats in it for the org then? The good players would inevitably leave after a slot in top teams open up

theres still prize money, sponsorships and branding.

entry into LEC/LCS is millions, and thats before even buying players/facilities, just for the spot (plus it has to get approved by Riot even if they were ready to shell out the money and found someone willing to sell their spot)

All T1 LoL leagues are franchised and you can't get in without buying a slot

this is why franchising sucks
