The Misunderstanding of Paper Rex

Although it seems like they only hold 'w,' their ability to trade and combine utility is what has given them a lot of success throughout the playoffs.

It seems like they have "zero fundamentals" but in reality, it's unorthodox in comparison to other teams because most teams play slow. I think the benefit of PRX's playstyle is that they barely leave it until the last 30 seconds to initiate a site. Instead, they attack sites very fast because it provides them with an advantage in numbers when initiating a site before the defending team can rotate. Usually, when a team initiates a site within the last 30 seconds, the defending side can predict the site the attacking team will hit, meaning they will be able to rotate quicker and have more numbers in preparation.

On PRX's defensive side (on Split), most of the time there were 4 players on one site because of how much space they were able to take. As a result, they only lost one round on defense. What makes PRX (on defense) even more amazing is that they barely blunder when they are aggressive. The players that usually get aggressive are the duelist because of the abilities to get a pick and then get out (for example you have the Jett dash, Reyna dismiss, and Raze satchels). The other PRX players won't get as aggressive as Jing or Forsaken because their utility is far too important to lose at the beginning of the round (especially on defense).

To conclude, teams will continuously have a hard time countering PRX's playstyle because of PRX's ability to trade and combine utility to initiate a site. There is more to PRX than we assume.

Let me know what you think :)

Pretty much, as I like to describe them as Controlled Chaos
They are on their record a very aggressive team but they know how to play around it and don't just over aggress and pay for it!
PRX for the win!

They look really strong, I wonder how they will do against teams like LOUD and even ZETA who tend to be more aggressive teams in comparison to the rest.

I wonder how ZETA stacks up against PRX. They are capable of beating really structured teams with a combination of individual play, and coordinated play. But PRX just throws all that structure out the window, so it should be really interesting matchup

I'm looking forward to the ZETA and PRX, as well as the LOUD and PRX matchup (if that does happen).

Their playstyle requires insane amount of coordination and practice. You basically have to commit your team to playing this way and practice it everyday, its not at all easy because it can be a double edge sword when you push too much and lose track of what's happening on the map. The reason why they find much more success is that their aggressive setups has a lot of layers to them, when one of their players die someone else is there to trade right away, on top of ppl lurking and flanking.

It’s crazy watching them, even when teams think they have dealt with the first wave of aggression, PRX has a flank or another player to ensue more chaos. Teams don’t expect multiple flanks and pushes in the first seconds of the game.

This is true. For example, if you remember how Faze used to play, they were always aggressive on both defense and offense however they were never coordinated when it came to utility combination and trading and that is why they barely found success in VCTs against tier 1 NA teams.

This just shows how difficult it is to replicate PRX's playstyle.

crazy thing about PRX is even their utility usage and mechanics are so clean in these chaotic situations. Like you can feel immense pressure when forsaken plays jett or jing plays raze, its like they live and breath that agent.

What you just described are the key components of tac fps fundamentals.

Anyone saying they're lacking it isn't watching properly.

They definitely deserve more credit. What they are doing to powerhouse teams proves how great of a team they are. We will most likely see them at the next masters for sure. What is crazy is that their duelist is always consistent. You barely ever see Jing or Forsaken bottom fragging in a match which is crazy.

The only moment f0rsaken botfrag was only against drx, i think bcz they know how to shutdown him and that's their(PRX) first game tho

That is true. Other than that, he has been fairly consistent throughout the tourney.

the sad thing is, f0rsaken considering to look for other team while jing going for national military service and d4v4i going to retire if he's winning this master.

d4v4i or benkai? Im pretty sure the one who made the tweet is benkai, also the first one is kinda sad but i think its just going to be a long hiatus for f0rsaken, while jinggg is in NS he will probably join another roster until Jinggg’s NS is over and they will be back as a duo

I've always enjoyed watching APAC valorant since their first LCQ. Question to all though:

Do you think that this current meta suits the Asian style of valorant more?
Do you think the results would have been very different if we were still in Astra Viper meta?
Or did APAC just level up exponentially since the last tournament?

There are so many styles of play in Asia that I think it's extremely difficult to answer the first and second questions.
Xerxia is a great example of this, their style would likely benefit more from an Astra Viper meta. They lost because they couldn't keep up with Optics insane pace using the brimstone and neon.

The last one is easy. It's a clear yes. Compared to previous challengers events, the most recent one was very competitive and most matches had teams that had a good idea of the game they wanted to play with a lot of preparation for executing said plan.

There's more talent and investment this year too, and more eyes on the players as well.

The way the matches are going, I am not surprised if this actually happens. This tournament has been full of upsets, which is making this event very entertaining.
