Masters Format is actually good

in Brazil, people from CS (Gaules and their follows) are making some criticism about Masters because of the format that put 4 teams in next stage of tournament relative to the rest

i understand the criticism but i understand more why riot make this format, we are playing a final of split, this isn't a Champions (the worlds/major)... it is a "playoffs with best challengers teams" and its fine give more points to best teams of biggest regions

what do you think?

i hope next masters will not be the case where some teams directly advance to playoffs
that is my only concern

so, no advantage to the winners from EMEA, NA, APAC and BR/LATAM, right?

yes...it should like that..didnt u see team throwing for seeds after the qualifications?
if not special seeding...teams fight for money

so you wouldn't want a BYE to the playoffs and hence you would throw? what are you saying

i understand you

but i like the seed 1 get space more deep in tournament, like as a said, its like a international playoffs of the split

if we see this masters...KR JP LAT has 1 slot...so if they play ...they would reveal the strats...and teams in playoffs can beat easily...
if ppl want special seeding ....then 2 slots from each region so that they can give special seeding to #1 team from that region

but that the exactly point to get special seeding

more than good place in tournament, it is more time to get ready and see what others teams are doing

How about 16 teams with top 1 EMEA, NA, APAC and BR/LATAM as pot 1 like in UCL or WC?

i think for Champions its good this and i believe this will happen really

but for Masters... this isn't special because its a finals of the split

"but for Masters... this isn't special because its a finals of the split"
Sorry, but that explains nothing.

Instant playoffs is an excessive advantage. -2/3 Bo3 is a huge gap.
Why not follow systems that already work for decades?

Pot 1, 2, 3 and 4 like Teach said is the best way to reward VCT region champions

i like the teams that got already to next stage and i dont care if others systems worked for long time, everythink can change

So basically you're biased. Understandable, have a good day.

biased because what?

if biased because i dont care about systems worked: i think new formats are made because people dont like a previous one, right?

I’m personally not a big fan if the seeding matches were gonna be worth so much it should have been on LAN aswell

The format is decent for a 12 team tournament, but i personally dont like 12 team tournaments. Would prefer a 16 team tournament with old format

16 teams will be back at Champions, dont worry

I expect at Least Champions with 24 Teams.
Imagine Champions with Swiss-system tournament.

It would REALLY define the best of the entire World.

Inviting more teams just means you invite lesser teams. With this compact tourney you actually get the best of the best and almost no walkover matches

if Champions goes to 24-teams format, there will be play-In like LoL

and i personally dont like the play-in format because some regions get no space

I mean, Loud just won two matches and is already guaranteed top 3. I think its better to have more teams in group stage and then a single elim play offs bracket

no, single elimination is by far the worst format for Valorant

we don't get really 2 best teams in grand final

it's not worth it imo, having a second chance takes away a lot of the pressure and excitement behind watching a match. Imagine that yesterday's DRX vs OPTIC was an elimination match for a spot in the final, it would've been the best match oat probably, but now DRX have a second chance so it became kinda meaningless. Also it's not that fair that the win that goes straight in to the grand final doesn't get a second life, and there's a good chance that the grand final is a repetition of the upper finals. Most sports and esports in the world prefer single elim for playoffs for these and many more reasons

you have a good point but one of the reasons of single elimination can be bad its because luck factor (take a team in bad day, take a good bracket, so on)

and i believe for a game like fps and Valorant, its important a double elimination bracket, if goes to a single i wanna a Bo5 playoffs

One potential upside to seeding teams directly into playoffs is that it insures diversity of regions in playoffs. Playoffs were always going to have at least 4 different regions this tourney. Apposed to Champs which was a larger tourney with more teams from other regions that had only had 3 different regions in playoffs. Is it a good thing and do you get to see the best Valorant? idk
