FENNEL GC outlast Gen.G GC 2-1

Following a loss to MIBR GC MIBR GC Brazil Unranked bstrdd Paula Naguil melissa Melissa Souza conir Constanza Reyes mizzy Ester Cardoso waved on Thursday, FENNEL GC dropped to the lower bracket to face Gen.G GC, who also lost their opening match of the tournament. The series marked the third meeting between the two teams in six weeks. FENNEL won the first encounter 2-1, while Gen.G took the second 3-2.

The series opened on Gen.G GC's pick of Ascent, a map played in both previous meetings. FENNEL GC won their first encounter on Ascent 13-6, while Gen.G took the rematch 13-9. Both teams retained their compositions across those meetings but switched things up at GCC. Gen.G GC leaned into the double-Duelist meta, fielding DaNa and miNt on Neon and Phoenix. Meanwhile, FENNEL GC opted for an Astra-Omen double-Controller composition, with SereNa 's Chamber anchoring sites on defense.

Much like the teams' first meeting, FENNEL's defense stuffed multiple Gen.G executes despite the Korean team's aggressive double-Duelist composition. FENNEL took a commanding 9-3 lead into halftime.

Second-half pistol and anti-eco wins extended FENNEL's lead to 11-3, putting the map firmly out of Gen.G's reach. The Japanese squad then pushed through the A-site to close out Ascent 13-3. UR stole the show on Omen, posting a 1.85 rating and 19/6/5 KDA.

The series shifted to Sunset, where Gen.G had defeated FENNEL in both previous meetings. FENNEL retained their composition, while Gen.G opted for an aggressive Neon-Phoenix lineup. Gen.G gave FENNEL a taste of their own medicine, racing to a 4-0 lead. Aggressive site executes led by miNt and DaNa helped Gen.G extend their advantage to 8-4 at halftime.

Like FENNEL on Ascent, Gen.G converted the second-half pistol round and maintained control. Their defensive setups shut down FENNEL's attacks as the Korean squad tied the series with a 13-4 victory. DaNa led the server on Neon, posting a 21/7/4 KDA.

The decider took place on Abyss, where both teams fielded mirror compositions featuring Yoru-Waylay and Harbor-Omen. FENNEL raced to a 4-0 lead, with defensive Sova darts from YuRinChi helping the team build a 9-3 halftime advantage.

Gen.G stayed alive with a second-half force-buy victory but couldn't overcome the deficit. A clinical 1v1 clutch by Moco secured a thrifty round for FENNEL, closing Abyss 13-8 and eliminating Gen.G. SereNa topped the server with a 52/33/7 KDA.
