I cant believe the amount of stupid babyraging i have seen.
So many orgs, players or fans are mad they didnt make it. SR, M80, Eintracht Frankfurt, KOI, DRX whatever it is. What strikes me is how entitled everyone is. They all bitch around saying "we/they deserved it!" and that Riot essentially wronged them. What they can never answer however is who should have not made it so they would be able to instead. Like... Why would Eintracht Frankfurt be in over Vitality? Why would M80 be in over NRG? All of these orgs are just better than them and they know it. But when they think and speak only in vague/unspecific terms of "we deserved partner" they dont have to confront on a case by case basis their offering compared to the great orgs that did make it.
Now when they actually do give you names its often times just incredibly selfish. Koreans are mad that they dont get 4/8 spots in a huge region with so many other countries and regions with big fanbases in it like vietnam, Japan etc. DACH and KOI fans are mad that turkish orgs get a spot over them. NA fans are mad that they only get 4 spots for their oh so great region and want to decrease spots of SA who have won b2b trophies showing their classic colonizer mindset. Its really embarrassing honestly.
Some (NA T2 grinders SR, M80) move on to complain that there should be more partner spots. Instead of 8 there should be 16(!) so you have more real chances to get in and not be financially out muscled by partners. But... then your prior argument that T2 is being left to die and needs saving makes 0 sense because the additional 8 team completely crowd out T2s chances of qualifying and generating literally any revenue at all. You completely kill T2 to extend old partnerships style T1 out further with all the problems that it proved to have. After years of troubles and bleeding out the ecosystems cake has gotten noticeably smaller and Riot had to react. These changes are undisputably necessary to rejuice the interest into the game and make it a healthier scene. Games were getting boring with worthless dead teams or parasite teams farming stipends. T2 talent stuck in purgatory while nepotism recycled jobs in a closed off system. A league system that was deeply uninteresting and missable now replaced by high stakes in nearly every match even in open quals....
At the end of the day people are just babyraging that there just isnt more money in the scene then there is. Even league who get over double the viewership struggle with financing an esport beyond the surface level. A deep ecosystem costs immense amounts of money and requires viewership approaching that of football basically. The scene was taught through a decade of VC money burning that they can expect a certain standard that was never even remotely going to be sustainable. People need to finally realize and accept this fact fully and emotionally process this. For gods sake...
