What were the predictions for 2024 or 2025?
I’m pretty confident that 90% of the people predicting the results didn’t even have EDG making the playoffs. Yet they qualified 2–1 and then dominated the entire upper bracket.
NRG is another example. They were the 2nd seed from the Americas after losing 3–0 to G2 in the Grand Final, but then went through the whole tournament without losing a single series. They had some really tough games, but still managed to make it through. They were even almost reverse-swept by FNC, but Ethan denied it.
What I’m trying to say is that a tournament depends much more on the teams’ form at that moment, not necessarily on how they looked two weeks or a month before.
Every team prepares differently. Some teams have only two weeks to prepare, while others have more than six weeks.
