Why are people hating the org, I dont understand
I understand people feeling bad for purp0 but TL is there to win, Lohan is there to win and the team is there to win. it makes sense to do everything they can to win. purp0 has a shit agent pool and just worse than GSR in general.

This is a good gamble for liquid and they raised their ceiling. This is what an org and coach should do, its not like purp0 is a charity worker, its his job and he wasnt the best candidate at it.

EDG did the same thing with jieni and stew, which makes sense. Stew is 10x the player jieni is and fixes all comp problems, but no one minds that. It seems people just dislike GSR coming in more than any real support to purp0

they're just trying to find an excuse to shit on Liquid cuz why not

Idk I have mixed feelings personally but it does feel like replacing a player after losing in playins and qualifying via points is quite a bit more acceptable than kicking someone who just made it to the regional finals...

I do think Purp0 deserved to play in champs and wish they waited til next season to bring on GSR, and even though I believe GSR is an insane player, Im not sure whether bringing him out straight for champs is the right move either for a rookie (bar his one standin for EWC quals)

overall though I think the hate is a bit overbloated even if I agree that it was not the best decision

while both the EDG situation and the TL situation are similar i dont think its the same
first of all let me be clear when saying this that i think both jieni and purp0 deserved champs for contrubuting for their team but imo i think theres a reason why purp0 situation has more outrage than the EDG situation
first of all TL is subbing out a main roster player for a more unknown T2 prospect like GSR and EDG is subbing out jieni with a star like player like stew
second of all EDG were eliminated in the playins on stage 2 this result migth have been the reason why jieni was benched but TL was coming off a second place finish at stage 2
third of all china is more unknown globally that like EMEA
lastly i think yes TL does higher their ceiling but i think they wouldnt be able to win champs with the current roster (i may be wrong but its just my opinion) also lowers their chemistry and now they have immense pressure to do well

people forget a lot about the business side of things. the teams are here to win and sometimes, you have to make tough decisions that will result in immense backlash to raise your chances. i'm fine with the gamble personally. their ceiling with purp0 was legit getting grouped, perhaps even 0-2, but maybe with GSR, they can fix their comps to play more meta shit and potentially get out of groups. there's still a possibility they go 0-2, but i'd rather take that risk than do nothing about it
