they're in better form than sen rn, but champs will be 3/5 of the team's first tier 1 lan so let's see if they can keep it up

“sucked during group stage 2” mind you, th went 5-0 and drx went 4-1. while it may be disappointing that teams in good form rn didn’t make it, abolishing champs points would make the beginning half of the year worthless imo. you should have a consistent performance throughout the ENTIRE year, not just peak at the end right before champs.

americas tiebreaker for champs points is h2h throughout the year (for other regions, it's higher placements in stage 2 playoffs). one of nrg/c9 will make the lower final and qualify with at least 10 points (or top 2 if they win lower final) and the other loses out to mibr on the overall year h2h.
americas have different tiebreakers for same number of champs points than the other regions. americas does it based on h2h throughout the year (which mibr wins) whereas the other regions do it based on stage 2 playoffs placements
in americas, the tiebreaker for same # of champs points is h2h throughout the entire year. mibr have the h2h over every single team in the lower bracket and the only team that could've passed them in points (and thus, not need a h2h) is kru (and they're out). since sen/g2 is the upper final, 1/2 of the top 2 spots is taken by them (meaning that at least one of them will qualify based on top 2 placement in stage 2 playoffs). because of this, whoever wins nrg/c9 will lock in the last spot at champs (either based on points if it's a g2/sen rematch in the grand finals, or based on a top 2 finish if they somehow beat g2/sen in the lower final).
but basically, mibr is locked bc they did well enough at the beginning of the year to have the h2h over all the teams minus g2/sen and lev eliminated kru, so mibr were able to lock in champs

even so, i’d expect them to be able to shoot their guns back. they look like shit rn on an individual level too. and their map pool is such a big issue, i would expect them to want to test things out on the stage when they still have the chance to before champs
the 4th seeds in every region went out in one in playoffs and ik it's incentive to do better in groups to avoid 4th seed, but wow it's rough out here
it's not even that bad of a post like the banter and rivalry storylines are what make this game interesting
i mean i agree it's a bit of an overestimate since tl hasn't made it out of groups internationally, but the work he has been able to do since the start of the year (alongside the coaching staff) is remarkable. he was given a roster with KAMO who played for fucking KOI previously, kamyk, and keiko who was decent last year but not spectacular. literally no one saw the 2025 tl roster as the top team they are rn
