APAC Playoffs Edition: Group A

Yes, it's me again. Don't you dare get bored of my writings.

In this thread, I'll be writing a detailed and complete analysis of the teams in Group A of Apac Playoffs (Group Stage), based on recent performances. Opinions may differ. Enjoy :)

Now that the groups have been revealed, I've been so excited in researching every team. So, I'll tell you guys what I've found.

  1. BOOM
First place in Indonesia Stage 1 Challengers, had a decent run last year, and they do have a lot of fans. Last year, they qualified for Stage 3: SEA Playoffs, however, they didn't make it that far. They also qualified for APAC LCQ but resulted in the same. After some roster changes (removing NcSlasher, Eeyore, Asteriskk, and adding BerserX, tehbotoL, frostmind), their performance increased. With this new roster, they won first place in Royal SEA and placed second in SEA EC.

    • BerserX = Duelist. Second highest ACS in Indonesia Challengers, with 260.6 ACS. He is a talented young (18-19 y.o) player, who keeps improving over the past months.
    • fl1pzjder = Flex (and Chamber on certain maps). Fifth highest ACS in Indonesia Challengers, with 244.7 ACS. He also used to play as the duelist and he was quite cracked, but it seems they decided to change his role (and it's working out really well)
    • blaZek1ng = MIxed role (mainly uses Sova though). He's the longest BOOM member, and is generally a smart guy.
    • tehbotoL = Controller. He has a relatively calm play style and is pretty dependable for his team.
    • frostmind = Sentinel. A well-rounded player, who constantly keeps the hype of the team.
They have fixed agent comps in each map, and it seems they just keep sticking to it. They also have a perfect streak in Ascent (100% win rate) and promising results in the other maps (here)
So far, they've been consistent with their results and It's exciting to see what this team can prove in the group.
  2. MiTH
Some of you may haven't heard of this team, while maybe some do. MiTH is one of the earliest Org to have a VALORANT roster in Thailand, back in 2020. However, they kind of 'disappeared' during 2021. So, it's surprising to see that they are back this year. They barely qualified from the Thailand Challengers Group Stage, yet surprisingly managed to beat 47 Gaming and Team NKT (It's surprising because both teams were showing incredible performances in the group stage). You could say that they are the underdog from Thailand.

    • Kadoom = Duelist. Pretty consistent based on his recent matches, and also pretty good with an OP.
    • wannafly = Sentinel. I know that he's been competing in this game since 2020. He can play a lot of roles, but I guess he keeps his role as a Sentinel this time.
    • AloNeFillz = Initiator. Watching his gameplay, I noticed that he is flexible and a team player.
    • kongared = MIxed roles (mostly initiator). He has been on the same team as wannafly since 2020. Skill-wised, he is well-rounded with an aggressive playstyle.
    • Delend = Controller. I noticed that this guy is pretty smart in positioning and map awareness.
They still lack experience, specifically, in competing against other teams in APAC. Their agent comp is also fixed, however, they don't have the stats that I was expecting (here)
This team looks really convincing, yet they are still lacking in a lot of ways.
  3. CERBERUS
The best team in Vietnam since last year. But what about in APAC? Well, they are down bad. Then, they continued to participate in other tournaments, yet showed disappointing results (disqualified early in KJC Invitational and SEA EC). Even so, they are still one of the best in Vietnam. Throughout these events, they picked up Redneval to replace Daicute momentarily. After a while, they decided to play him again, while subbing Suka. This year, they managed to keep their title by winning Challengers Stage 1 Vietnam.

    • Redneval = Duelist. The guy has a pretty high ACS, understandable since he is an aggressive player with good aim. However, he can be too aggressive and makes his own plays sometimes.
    • Daicute = Sentinel (mostly Chamber). Used to play as the duelist, now plays the chamber most of the time and it is perfect for him.
    • Kishi = Initiator. A flexible player that can play most Initiator agents and is dependable.
    • Lok1 = Controller. A patient and smart player, most confident in Astra.
    • Akashi = Initiator (Sova main). He is a hardcore Sova main but his ACS is the worst out of the team (idk why).
So far, strong in maps, such as Ascent and Haven. Uses the same agent most of the time (Jett, Chamber, and Sova), so that is worrisome. (here). They are a strong team in Vietnam yet somehow have a huge disadvantage with the other APAC teams. After watching some clips, I think that they tend to rely on individual performances, rather than team play.
I just hope this year, they will show a better performance.

As usual, Best of luck to all teams!
