They have more impact in GC AND more impact in Tier 2. It doesn't make much sense to me that FlyQuest would be considered b4 SR.

The only thing FlyQuest could possible have over SR is a longer history with Riot through LCS, every other argument you could make for them being partnered applies to SR aswell.

#17

Exactly, every Valorant-related argument favors SR because they've had more success as well

how about both get partner's slots and riot kicks the orgs who struggle financially (or the orgs leave themselves cuz investments in esports are smaller than they were when franchising started)? shopify and flyquest both have good capital behind them. afaik almost all vct na orgs had some sort of financial problems

#35

what impact? losing to randoms in tier 2?

Investing in tier 2 continously all these years > only entering tier 2 partway through this year to look good for partnership.

Just add both in depending on where G2 go there's slots to spare

#25

Surely they allocate slots to Lyon for LATAM representation and for investing in RIOTs other esports right? At least you guys deserve a chance for showing that you won’t waste opportunities given what the org has done in the LoL side of things recently.

also six karma now lyon have had a team always since 2021 and have never just left the game like many other tier 2 teams

so you think 100t nrg kru dip on their own due to costs or riot kicks them to get teams with cash in?

#29

100T is probably out if FlyQuest is getting in, and KRU are just the less appealing option of the 2 LATAM South teams.

I just think that deadass the state of na orgs finances wise is just sad. even sentinels are barely breaking even afaik, 100T had to get roobet to enter cs, so shopify and flyquest might deadass get in over 100T and NRG cuz they have venture capital behind them afaik

#31

I think if finances is all Riot is looking at NRG is probably safer then SEN tbh.

I mean I am just following vct like a casual, but I feel like 2027 reforms are just weird. Non-partners get very little in prize money, so I think it's either you are partnered or you are a non-contracted org. 100k for cups and kickoff, 200k for masters, 400k for champs is just too little for orgs imo. whoever riot decides is out, they are likely to just leave completely. don't you get capsules only if you make champs? so you basically have a disadvantage of not signing the best players (cuz they will go to partners), you have to cut costs to operate and then you just pray to make it to champs or nah?

yeah ppl don't realize what theyre getting, it's an overall downsizing of the whole scene (except china). not a good outlook and itll turn into apex/tier 2 cs where orgs pay nothing and will drop their teams after big lans if they dont qualify

#39
Nef0r0

Frags

biggest difference with tier 2 cs is that there are no bookies. bookies pay, premier sponsors won't give a shit about open quals.

#40

riot is gonna open up the scene to gambling for 2027 imo, theyre beta testing prediction markets alr w their twitch shotcall thing and sliggy was talking about rumors of a kick val partnership.

#41
Nef0r0

ngl kick+val is kinda different from just teams having bookie sponsors, no? I mean, we will see if riot make a statement or something, but I just don't even see the way for non-partners to break even, unless they allow bookie sponsors

#42

people are expecting that this new format will lead to more org investment and support but in actuality it'll just lead to orgs coming in and signing free agent teams that qualify to Cups on 2 month contracts and then dumping them when they don't qualify to Masters.

#43
Nef0r0

it's just not sustainable to actually maintain a roster for a year. Like imagine paying salaries, bootcamps, buyouts, and then getting like 100k for cups, only to then meet partners who have more cash than you and better everything and getting clapped. Unironically it will just be partnered teams going to masters/champs with like a 20% chance of one tier 2 team

#50
AhhhYuhhh

I think Riot really needs to add some sort of incentive for orgs to commit long term, maybe on top of the stipends they get for qualifying to Cups the top performing non-partner teams also earn extra money at the end of each year, they could also keep something like Ascension where the top performing non-partner team across the entire year can become a partner team for the next year.

Add in a couple extra spots in each tournament (16/16/20 instead of 12/12/16) and it might actually be worth it for an org to sign a roster for a year.

What about NRG and 100T? I’m not going to question G2 getting in at all given their strong presence in both Americas and game changers, just question of whether they stick them in Americas franchising since the team is already there or move them back to EMEA.

EDIT: for what it’s worth I do think G2 should remain in Americas since their current iteration with the guard core has a way better impact than previous iterations, especially as a heel that everyone likes to hate on when it comes to internationals

G2 just re-signed JoshRT for another 2 years, that to me seems like confirmation that they've either been accepted as a partner or at the very least intend to stay in NA.
