Let's get some World Cup discussions going, y'all. There's three weeks left and other than Neymar being called up for Brazil I've seen like zero talk about the World Cup recently

Genuinely would not be surprised. It feels like people are underrating them because they're not doing anything with their friendlies but since when has that mattered for the Albiceleste?
These guys are so passionate, man... it feels like South Americans in general always want it more than the big European powers
Oh yeah 100% they're making it out. Full respect to Panama and Ghana because they're both good teams but if Croatia can't get 4 points minimum against those two and end up going out in groups then it's an embarrassment imo
Defense and midfield are World Class. A good crop of strikers now too. Established core with good team spirit. Consistently strong results in all comps. Also a big game/tournament team.
Colombia's a dark horse 100% and I have a ton of faith in them (I have them winning their group) but they've looked shaky in these past few friendlies I'm gonna be honest. It's been months since the last notable Colombian performance
Saying they look better than Argentina is one hell of a hot take icl but I fw it
I like how Spain haven't made it past the round of 16 since 2010 despite being a favourite on paper pretty much every time
That is true
...come to think of it, when's the last time Spain's won any shootout?
The Nations League isn't real it can't hurt me
On that note, I like Sweden but I'm gonna be rooting against them simply because of their qualification path, because what is this bs
The valorant group stage format is better than world cup qualification it's a joke.. putting 0-4 team and 6-2 team at same place just doesn't make sense
A bit of Italy cope, I like it
But yeah it's stupid that a team can get 2 points in 6 matches and still make it. I was rooting for Kosovo and I'm lowkey pissed for these guys
Yeah man no matter how much I cope, at the end we only have ourselves and bastardoni to blame.
I wouldn't blame the team tbh I'd mainly blame the lack of investment in youth development and infrastructure from the FIGC
hell when they won the euro 2024 they had to go completely undefeated, not even a penalty shootout
COME ON INGERLANDDD 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
SCORE SOME FACKIN GOALS 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
Icl to you I have them finishing 2nd in their group behind Croatia and then losing in the rounds of 16 to Spain
We are hopeless
Our best chance is England magic getting us to the final to lose it again
there is no chance we actually win
Yeah no matter how you do in groups the bracket's lowkey cooked
Hopefully y'all can channel some magic though, I feel like it's been too long since England's actually exceeded expectations
2018 was your best chance.. I don't see this current England team beating spain or france
If you asked me a year ago I'd have said "England have the best squad in international football, now we finally have a top coach there is nothing stopping us", but I feel like our squad has kinda fallen apart somewhat? If we look at the players that are normally called up, Grealish is washed, Saka has fallen off somewhat (not due to lack of talent, but Arteta running him into the ground), Sterling is basically retired, Foden has had a rough patch and is never great for England anyway, Watkins is past it....
And don't even mention Palmer, who was arguably our best at the Euros, and now probably shouldn't be called up based on form
We are going to be almost entirely reliant on Kane/Bellingham imo and it's kinda scary
good thing is that Kane doesn't have to force the false 9 like he's been doing at Bayern all season, we can actually see him make runs into the box
England hasn't looked as good as they should recently, I agree. The Japan game was just Japan looking incredible tbh but the Uruguay game is worrying. It's England, though... no matter how poor you think they look they will win games early on solely on talent
I didn't see the squad... did Alexander-Arnold get called up? I know he hasn't been called up in a while now
won't be announced for another 3 days but if Trent is missing, Tuchel just has a grudge lmao
It's not out yet but Tuchel is worrying me. Trent is by far our best "chance creator", but in March Tuchel didn't call him up to the 35 man squad for a friendly and said guys like Djed Spence and Ben White are ahead of him in the pecking order, which is insane to me. There's a genuinely big chance he doesn't play for us in the summer and I see it being a big reason we fail
Wasn't trent injured in March though? Although I agree, 100% fit TAA is possibly England's best chances creator
Not with the nepotism and that weak backline. I'll put money on brazil getting grouped than winning World cup
How do you feel about playing Morocco in your opener and then probably either the Netherlands or Japan before you even get to the round of 16?
If the US gets grouped I'll be happy. Not only is this abysmal excuse for a country doing everything in their power to make this World Cup as awful of an experience as possible, and not only do the people they're genuinely not care about it, but they also have no respect for any of the other three nations in their group when Türkiye, Australia, and Paraguay are all unironically more accomplished AND more exciting. These mfs NEED to be humbled
nah honestly i kinda agree with you there why the hell is the world cup hosted in the one country that doesn't give a fuck about it
US is the biggest sports market. They trying to get people's attention towards football. I just hope they don't ruin football by Americanising it
They're already introducing a halftime show and what is essentially a 4 quarters system it's already cooked
If they win their group, they have a decent path to the quarters... if they lose it to Croatia, 90% chance they play Spain in the round of 16
I mean the quarterfinals should be pretty good for them, they'll have to face Brazil, who have not made it past the quarterfinals since The Incident
i’m kind of worried for spain i feel like everyone got injured at least one time this season and are in worse form than 2024
