I've heard it's fucking amazing but I feel like all anyone talks about with the series is the Anti-Spiral fight and the "this is the drill that will pierce the heavens" moment
Is it peak even before that or is that the only truly amazing part of the story?
i remember crying so hard watching the first episodes i genuinely avoided watching it for a month, it's so peak
i didnt think it was THAT great, its main strength for me is that its quite hopeful in this seemingly hopeless time
gurren lagaan does not have a plot that will make you think it's some incredibly intricate story but it is a story that I think will resonate with everyone who exists in the modern world
there's a really good youtube essay called gurren lagan and getting it and i think that guy puts the value that gurren lagan has as a story in a very well articulated way, which I would suggest watching after you watch it if you end up thinking it was kinda boring
