Where does Tier 2 China come from?

Its like these tier 2 teams just spawn in random players from thin air. Like how do tier 2 CN teams even find talent, is it basically just them going to ranked and picking up players from there or what.

No. Most Chinese viewers are like you. For the majority of the competitions, there is no live broadcast or replay available.

Tier 2/3 in CN works differently, they call it the National Competition instead of Challengers. They have a thorough tournament system starting from local PC cafe tournaments. There, regional and provincial tournaments are run until the national finals are held, which qualify teams to Ascension.

The reason why VLR doesn't show CN Tier 2 is because our lack of access to the Chinese client, which made us unable to pull stats or resources.

Furthermore, there are SO many tournaments that often, only the bigger qualifiers or national-level tournaments are being advertised on Weibo.
