They are going to invite 9 out of 10 teams straight to VRL main event, with only 1 qualifier spot available for "the poor" who couldn't pay or have less fanbase and influence

Also all these teams are SURPRISINGLY playing in LoL Spanish Superliga
https://liquipedia.net/leagueoflegends/LVP/Superliga/2022/Spring

Nobody cars about Portugal and Italy, although they are also a part of this EMEA VRL subregion, now they have 1 chance for 1 spot, and it's against teams like 19 and Rebels who should have been in main event as well (instead of some of those LoL orgs who aren't even in Valo yet)

Very cool stuff Riot EMEA and LVP 👍 I expected fair qualifiers for everyone, not this shitty franchise
Imagine there is also only 1 team being relegated from VRL Spain to their lower league LMAO

I genuinely feel bad for all the Spanish tier2 teams and SAW who are not here and who will play hunger games very soon, when KOI, Arctic, Bison didn't lift a finger to be invited

But hey we got the viewership!!! How cool!!!

It really really sucks. And there will be very low amount of spanish-portuguese-italian players, which is also awful considering what a regional league should mean. Big cash orgs out there fighting to get what T1 teams left.

I was really hyped when I found out regional leagues where coming, but rn I almost dont care about it.

5 invites 5 qualy spots, it is so much to ask for?

Portugal and Italy will probably have their own league like in LoL. This way you avoid shitty orgs that don't pay their players.

Neither do I

If there were more promotion spots available for EMEA Pro League (3-4 instead of 2), as well as more spots from VRLs for Promotion Tournament (2-3 from each VRL instead of 1), it would have been so much better

#13

for viewers and players it will be good, its more matches against better teams = higher level of competition. Better than a bracket match against some immortal 3 and his friends.

It's just kinda strange their doesn't seem to be 1 RIOT ruling for all these leagues. Its like they can all decide on their own who they invite, how many token-nationalities have to be in the team, how many teams can participate. Riot should've made all these things clear before the transfer period started so teams wouldn't be in trouble

#14

If they are invited does that mean they won't try to get to VCT directly in the open quals at the start of the year?

#16

Yes, they will try. G2 will be the 9th invited team if they not qualify for Pro League. If any other Spanish organization qualifies to Pro League they will invite other teams.

#15

It 1000% should require at least 3 players of the same nationality

1 regional player in the starting roster, 1 regional player in the bench. In the VRL Spain, it can participate Italy, Portugal and Spain as regional players.

#42

the problem with that is that if a team like fnatic cant perform in the main league and they have to play a regional league they are gonna have to bench some players and get new ones to have 3 of the same nationality so they can play a regional league

Well most of what you said is very true. A few things to discuss tho

-Nobody cares about Portugal/ Italy. Well, that is partly true I don’t even know if there is gonna be a streaming for them, probably not and even tho is logic to give priority to Spain as the community is x100 times bigger, I agree that it might a bit too much. Also I gotta say that there are rumors of Portuguese people joining some teams like KOI

-Nationality rule. The rule for the league is to have 1 national player (understanding national player as someone from any of the three countries). The rumors are that most orgs are going for international rosters, so I feel like it’s not gonna have a lot of “national league” anyway, more like a strong tier 2 league with a streaming that Eu can’t understand :)

I don’t know what to think about it tho, I guess the best is just to wait

#22

Yo wait... You just said that Spain will get 9 spot out of 10 cuz Portugal and Italy have "less fanbase"... true but Hey that's Competitive, it shouldn't mean that if a Region has more views should have more team,
what about meritocracy?

I mean, maybe there will be an invited Spanish team that took the spot of a stronger Portuguese/Italian team. Isn't that true?
Every other regions has Open qualifier for every spots, and only our Spanish/Portugal/Italy league has these invites.

I don't know... I think 9 out of 10 is too much, if you want the viewers you just go for a 5/10.... but 1 spot in Open Qualifier, yo that's soo bad.
No opportunities = No viewers.

Anyway there actually will be an official stream for Italy, but until "poor regions" can't get their teams to top competitions, it's also about this invitational system, not only that, but I think that's a huge part of the problem for these regions.

Anyway, it is what it is, everyone has to accept that despite it isn't "That right".

#23

Well, again I partly agree, 9 it’s a bit too much, but actually is not that important now. Yes, the 9 orgs are gonna be Spanish, but the truth is that at the end of the day almost every single org is going for international rosters.

It is actually a meritocracy, the only Spanish players leaked that most likely are gonna be on the league are Fitinho and Quick for Giants, Lowel for Heretics and RAYZ for MRS, and I wouldn’t be surprised if either Heretics or Giants make it to the European league and don’t compete on Spain. Meanwhile teams like KOI or TQ are rumored to be covering the national spot with stark and kizpawn both portuguese.

No info about the rest of the teams, but non of them had already a established full Spanish roster, and for the moment is 3 teams with Spanish people and 2 with Portuguese people, 4 left.

No Italians, well, not for the moment, but if they had the level of both gameplay and English required they will be in. There is no reason for the Spanish orgs to give priority to a Portuguese in front of a Italian, it’s the same at the end of the day. I agree that Spanish players might be having a little advantage but again they bring more fanbase, and the priority is not even that big, many orgs are choosing Portugueses.

The problem here is not which nationality gets more spots, the problem is that the league is not national at all

It's understandable that Portuguese players are looking for Brazilian teams honestly, big orgs will sign international talent with zero intent of growing the regional scene (which should be the number one priority with the regional leagues). Looking for the viewership side, this looks great, these are some of the biggest organizations around the "Spanish" esports even tho they will probably have like, 1 or 2 Spanish players max.

#24

shouldve been 5 invited and 5 qualifying spots imo, with moviestar, giants and heretics invited + 2 other teams
if heretics or giants qualify for challengers they forfeit their spot in the VRL right?

#33
Mortadelo

Yeah, if any team qualifies for the European one a spot for another org would be open, actually the 9 th invite is not leaked because it’s for G2 in case they don’t make it to the Europe one

should have been 5 invites 5 qualifiers. 3 invites and 3 qualifier slots for Spain, 1 invite and 1 qualifier slot for Italy & 1 invite and 1 qualifier slot for Portugal ATLEAST.

they all qualify through the same thing tho, spanish VRL = portugal italy and spain, u cna have 1 portugues and 1 spanish player or something like that, they shouldve just invited the 5 best teams out of italy spain and portugal

#28

Or they should have given about equal slots to each region in the league or something like 5 slots for Spain, 3 for Italy and 2 for Portugal

It's funny cuz only 1 of these Spanish orgs will possibly make it to EMEA Premier League after split ends, so much fuss only to stay in domestic league over and over again, thanks Riot for fucking 2 relegation spots when it must be 4

I'd say upcoming January 10-24 qualifiers are the most important 2 weeks EVER in EMEA 2022 Valorant esports

Because the chance to proceed to higher league after VRLs will be much lower

#39

Giants might have a chance (Fitinho, Quick, Jesse, Russ, Monster) but the others barely, Heretics could but they are still looking for the fifth (Lowel, Alorante, Mertz, Foxie and maybe Tenzski not sure yet)

SAW has released their roster over this bullshit...with one, move Riot just crippled the Italian and Portuguese scene
Giving a spot to orgs that don't even have valorant rosters is a slap in the face to teams and small orgs who have been in the scene since the beginning.

A league with 10 spots meant for 3 countries with 9 spots owned by Spanish orgs it's borderline retarded

#37
Mortadelo
1
Frags
+

Very true ngl, Saw and/or Rebels could have used a spot, maybe Qlash for Italy? Bison and Arctic don't deserve the spot imo, but all the others do. There is also a couple of very strong Spanish teams without an invite like 19 or Case. The whole thing comes when Riot gives the rights to LVP as it's the stronger partner of the three countries, and LVP decides not to give priority to Spain, but to give priority to every single org that has a spot on their LoL league (Both MAD Lions and Barcelona the only other teams that are on the LoL league and not in the new Val league rejected the offer)

LVP has decided to prioritize the orgs that have worked with them in the past and that they already know over the ones that have been in Valorant since the start, is not a nationality issue, it's a business one

#44
DaNtyLe
-1
Frags

They chose the path that gives money the fastest, halting in it's tracks the growth of the scenes for a quick buck.
This is awfull not just for these scenes but for EU Valorant in general, because if this is happening in the Spain/Portugal/Italy region it can also happen in other VRL's, imagine that in the UK/Ireland/Nordics region they decide to invite only UK orgs and leave 1 spot for the other regions? Everyone would go ballistic

#46
Mortadelo
0
Frags
+

I'm pretty sure it's not gonna happen in other VRL, there aren't orgs as strong as LVP that can afford to make people mad.

And about LVP, well they not only choosing the fastest path to money but also the most money in general if the rumors of players are true and the salaries, the Spanish league is gonna be the vlr moving the most money and talent

#50
DaNtyLe
0
Frags

I can see the LVP being the most profitable VRL of them all, I just feel that in the short term the nurturing of new talent, and upcoming teams will be slower than it should.

It is what it is

#51
Mortadelo

Fully agree, and even that there are some amateur tournaments like the Circuito Tormenta that help a lot to the people starting, this is gonna slow down a lot the growth of our players

#40

I mean, given the fact that even the Spanish orgs will probably have more international players than Spanish players themselves, they managed to bury all the three scenes in one strike LMFAO.

#41

100% true, right now there's no portuguese orgs with Valorant teams wich is ridiculous when there's a ton of good players in the country, same goes for Italy ,a lot of orgs are gonna pull out of Valorant because of this.

They just halted the progress of 3 scenes in a turn of a dime.

#43

At least looks like starkk is pretty confirmed, Kizpawn might be close, maybe Fizzy somewhere too, be positive xD

#45
DaNtyLe

That is true, I believe that some of the invited orgs that don't have roster will field portuguese players and some even italian players.
But was it worth killing a good roster in SAW, who was top 30 in Europe (VLR ranking) for this?

It's just sad :(

#47
itzIgor
1
Frags

There are some rumors about Portuguese players migrating to the Brazilian scene, which is totally understandable honestly, taken into consideration that no org will pick them up. It just became a franchise league at this point and they will not change it at all, it gives them more money than giving small org with local players the opportunity to grow.

#48

Was good playing with a full portuguese roster while it lasted right now as you guys said its impossible and I feel even worse for those portuguese players that want to start valorant competitive or continue, lets see what the future brings to us. :(

Teams should be required to have 3 players from that region in a vlr. e.g 3 players from either spain, italy or portugal. maybe this could include coach i dunno but it doesnt seem fair without it

100%. At least 50% of your team should be from the region that the league you're playing is.

The rebels gaming results make it even funnier. Imagine playing around top 10 in eu and than dont qualify for vrl spain, because of a bad day.
