Should Russia have gotten its own region like China in tier 1 if it never got into war?
Idk if this counts as political, dont wanna talk about that aspect. Just Russia being a region due to its good players
Maybe CIS instead of Russia

bl4z31ng [#5]no because if they did then the issue arises of 16 not being divisible by 5
Could increase team count to 20 or smth
Just work it out
no, because most of them still play csgo, wouldnt h ave too much of a player base
Acethyr [#9]Could increase team count to 20 or smth

but then there's the factor of 20 not being a square of 2
bl4z31ng [#11]but then there's the factor of 20 not being a square of 2
Come on man Theyre a multibillion dollar company I’m sure they’ll figure it out
poiuu20 [#4]no but maybe they shouldve have split to east and west emea
Weast
The Russian viewership and interest in VALORANT was low compared to EMEA in general before the invasion so no this wouldn't have happened.

I see, that’s interesting
You think it’s different now? Could they be capable of being a successful region now that the game is more “polished”?
Honestly. We got so many russians in regions not in emea you might as well merge it with china and call it "central asia" Or smthn?

Actually not a bad idea I fw this
But I doubt it’s realistic cause riot heavily favors China, likely wants to keep it as a solo region
I mean Valorant isn't very popular in most CIS countries tbh, the player base is quite small and the viewer base is even smaller than that. It would likely take them even longer than even China did while also not having the same support, viewership, sponsorships, and player base that china has.

yeah that makes sense
thats why i agree w the take of the guy above you
but again, doubt that would ever happen
they have like 10-20 good players but i don't think there's enough to fill out a tier 1 league
Acethyr [#15]I see, that’s interesting

Still a big no, they never cultivated an active fanbase around the game.
The viewership of Challengers/VRL CIS was also extremely low back when that existed. The Russian Broadcasted games were also majority just gambling addicts saying slurs in chat so it really isn't a scene Riot would ever consider giving it's own circuit as there is nothing they can benefit from it.
I'd say make them part of VCL N//E rather than their own region honestly
But what I do love to see is that Russian orgs would be present to revive the scene

Sub continent with over 70 million people named Central asia:
Acethyr [#12]Come on man Theyre a multibillion dollar company I’m sure they’ll figure it out
those aren't the biggest problems yes
the biggest problem is that china's population is 1 billion and esports is big in China (unlike India it's smaller in India) that's why they have a VCT China
Russia is just like 100 million
and before you say something about korea's smaller population yet having LCK
Russia's relationship with valo is not the same as korea's relationship with LoL
bl4z31ng [#11]but then there's the factor of 20 not being a square of 2
Neither is 12 but that's no problem

You're right, CS and Dota already take up that niche pretty well!
However, Russia is one of the better represented nations on the tour and I'd have them as my favourites in a World Cup-style val event, so I'm just wondering where all of this talent appeared from. It can't all just be spillover from CS right?

I recall frost offering the talon boys to team spirit and vp but nothing came out of that unfortunately
make them part of the central Asia region (Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, kyrgyzstan)
delighted [#31]make them part of the central Asia region (Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, kyrgyzstan)
This is the way I think
Though I believe merging Russia and China could also be good (never happening)
There’s so much Russian talent

wouldn't be surprising since china does get a lot of Russian talents in their league

Yeah but I doubt riot wants to do that
Chinas their golden child
It does make sense but riot is stupid

plus bodork said that Russian challengers had low viewership + Russian viewers were mostly gambling addicts
delighted [#35]plus bodork said that Russian challengers had low viewership + Russian viewers were mostly gambling addicts
Yeah I doubt the community will be that good
But I’m kinda just focusing on the talent tbh
There’s a huge talent pool in Russia I feel

yeah hopefully riot at least merges china t2 with russia t2

More like riot isn't stupid lol. Merging china and Russia will be stupidity. There are so many demerits with that.
Mango34 [#38]More like riot isn't stupid lol. Merging china and Russia will be stupidity. There are so many demerits with that.
You’re probably right
In all honesty I don’t have much knowledge on the possible demerits of it
I’m just tryna find a way to harvest Russian talent
delighted [#37]yeah hopefully riot at least merges china t2 with russia t2
Bro I swear I’ve seen you change your flag and flair like 5 times in the pat 24h

EU has even fewer good players than that yet they managed to get a league idk

I mean it's basically just players who never got the opportunity to compete in the higher levels of CS who switched over along with games like Free Fire, Crossfire and Overwatch
