If your body had the cure to cancer, but to extract it you’d have to give up your life, would you do it?
I would not, or to be more specific I would live my whole life and let them extract it when I’m on my deathbed

Only you know that you have the cure
Basically you either let millions die every year or you die to save them

this scenario just keeps evolving what the fuck

Yeah I added that one on my own, because I think the questions trying to make you question your morality
Do you value your life more than the lives of millions
The idea of you getting hunted down kinda ruins that aspect of the question

exactly what I was thinking no way they just honor your wish to live out your life they for sure sucking it out of you

Kill me on the spot and develop that cure right now. My only wish is for it to be free to anyone that requires it.

Imagine thinking your singular life is worth more than the millions dealing with cancer.

(assuming perfect world scenario where the cure does go out to the people who need it) I feel like I'd still just get severely depressed knowing that ~10 million people die to cancer annually and I could prevent that.

Its cute that you think theyll respect your wishes, even cuter that they'll even offer the cure and not hide it. Do you know how much revenue cancer pharmaceudicals bring in a year globally? No way in hell are they giving up that kind of money to save people.

So you'd rather sit on your throne of pessimism and watch one of the leading causes of death in the world continue knowing that you could've prevented it far sooner before your own death?

#16

Thats the thing its not pessimism its just reality and thinking that giving up your life wont be in vain is just naive

I'm sure you can make a public statement and say what you wish to happen with your body you're willingly sacrificing or start your own foundation before your death. If companies and leaders go against that statement, while there's nothing you can do about it they will still be seen unfavorably in the public eye and potentially ruin their business and reputation, ultimately forcing them to respect your wishes or risk collapsing.

While I understand that generally pharmaceutical companies are very VERY exploitative, there are things you can do to avoid (at least initially) your body going into the wrong hands and it's also just the right thing to do to sacrifice your body to cure cancer; I would willingly sacrifice myself to save like 3 random people already ofc I would do it to potentially save millions.

Also, It's still pessimism to assume things are going to go badly; reality is not always the bad guy winning.

Yeah low-key I don’t understand the thought process behind saving millions being the “right” thing to do
Your life is valuable too and you deserve to live

Live your life then on your deathbed let them extract the cure

i mean im one person and i know at least two people with cancer rn so id heavily consider it. Would suck ass tho, there's a lotta stuff i wanna do in life

if i didnt personally know anyone with cancer, id probably be selfish enough to live out my life before giving it up

the worst thing to come out of this though would be pharma companies exploiting the cure for billions of dollars in profit, creating false scarcity or using it on rich people first instead of people who cant afford chemo

assuming it's guaranteed that it won't be locked away by greedy people and is easily accessible to poorer countries then yeah 100%

I don't wanna die but I'd probably do it anyways then just regret as it's happening but ultimately then have no choice but to accept my fate. Like I'm not kind enough to say I would just do it but at the same time I care too much about what the hypothetical people in my head would think for me to just live my life.
