Korea should never have its own region in anything imo and this goes for every other country ever

Giving 1 country extra slots just makes the game less competitive and extremely skewed towards said country 90% of the time it's the same as why giving extra slots to 1 region for no reason is stupid noone else can improve the game gets stale or things are made worse for the sake of larger viewership later down the line
China is kind of weird because I don't think it should be separate but they have to literally play a different game unless the game itself is Chinese due to laws so I guess even if I don't like it there isn't an alternative

They play the same game, it’s just impossible to merge CN and APAC because strict Chinese laws (censorship) on aspects of the broadcast. Also wouldn’t be profitable because Valorant is getting bigger in China, whose audience mostly focuses on their own teams.

With 5 audiences?

China and Korea should be merged in one league
That would be good for overall development of Asian val

whats ur rationale

#14

Even T2 Korean teams have so much experience because they practice with T1 teams because pacific league is setup in korea
China on the other hand hasn't been very competitive (considering their performance in recent champs and master) in China league if we give some slots to Korean teams it will help both the regions as Korean teams will have more slots and chinese teams will improve by playing against strong korean opponents

If we exclude korea from Pacific then it will be fair for SEA teams because they have more countries and more teams so they can have extra slots and also it will help lower competitive regions like india, oce, japan

Very strong nationalism sentiment on both sides, they would absolutely hate watching the opposite country’s teams. If 2 KR teams play, there would be much lower viewership in China, and vice versa. Also Riot would never do this because Valorant is getting bigger in China, and people would lose interest if it’s just Korean teams curb stomping on Chinese teams

#28

Understandable but I think riot will lose Rest of the APAC viewership if there are so many korean teams in league
Im sure SEA has more watching than korea and it keeps declining
They should think of something to maintain balance

They should consider moving studios where they play the APAC games to different countries every year. In my opinion, the Korean teams get such a big advantage by scrimming with APAC tier 1 teams. This isn’t just an issue with APAC, but also NA players+teams benefit much more by scrimming Americas teams, and Brazil and other LATAM countries don’t get that practice and fall behind.

Not sure if this is financially viable unfortunately.

you do you know that japan tier 2 gets just as much scrims if not more than korea t2 with tier 1. SEA tier 2 gets scrims with tier 1 too, china tier 2 too, this isnt like americas where the countries are too far apart to have access to scrims lmao. Only india and oce really suffer from this "location" excuse and even then I dont think india would be good enough in pacific

Yes, make it East asia league but japan will lose all viewership since their T1 teams will get owned by tier2 korean and chinese teams

Meiy alone can 1v5 bottom tier chinese team. But it's not happening anyways, J0ke S0n would make KR it's own region if it were to break off

Too much money in the CN scene, Riot makes a lot for having a whole 12 teams (even if talent is spread thin)

HK/TW is china's academy, such a pointless sub region

#57

yeah, IP is the reason it exists, but the players there can abuse the sub region and treat it as china's academy training ground

#54
TMosura
1
Frags

Not really. Imagine being tied to two regions without any clear cut solutions thanks to politics beyond their control (even if it leads to certain benefits having eligible technically for those two regions.)

TW/HK has been within the APAC ecosystem since LMS existed in LoL, and have always been intrinsically tied to Riot's APAC family.

The LCP's home is in Taipei, and it's clear Riot wants to keep a healthy relationship.

#55
Astar

it exists only because LCP exist, in valorant it doesnt mean anything since the ecosystem completely different

That doesn't mean anything if the major offices still work for both sides of the pond.

you cant say the same to the players and orgs with the stupid citizenship rule they can just abuse it whenever they want, in LCP it doesnt mean anything since SEA are nonexistent apart from vietnam.

why would korea take from other region? They dont lack talent in any role besides initiator I guess and its not worth changing language. why dont they learn korean?

i dont know maybe i am wrong but aren't there always some visa issues with KR and hence teams tend to prefer KR players.

#63

yeah been calling this since mostly korean teams have been dominating pacific

#71

Some people will call for KR to be its own region, or be split with JP as APAC North, and if that happens it will benefit regions like SEA SA and OCE by giving their teams a fair shot to tier 1 (removal of competition)

In some ways this can be good as it encourages diverse representation and honestly it's possible that a team that couldn't make it to tier 1 with the previous format can dominate with this proposed new one.

but if KR becomes its own region or is merged as APAC North that cuts down on the competitiveness of the region as a whole imo. Yeah Korea has been performing really well in Pacific but it's not like SEA have been getting shit on when RRQ basically ran the league this year.

Besides, this conversation happens all the time with differing reactions. Back during Stage 1 groups people were laughing at the idea of KR being its own region because they weren't performing well.
The reality is teams fluctuate in performance and just because KR has been doing well doesn't guarantee that they will continue to do so.
